I recommend watching these. A big part of what I think about Philbin came from watching how he handled himself in press conferences.

Key word: CONTENT.

Get beyond his Larry Coker/Gomer Pyle looks. Listen to the content of his words.

He looks more like woody harrelson than coker congrats an I am happy for thi aquisition though

Hard to imagine Philbin's opening press conference being worse than Cam Cameron's or Tony Sparano's. Tony kept saying "k?" over and over again but in his Italian way he was more saying "hey?". The first time I saw Cameron speak was just...ewww.

I mean you could try and see the bright side on those guys and stay optimistic but first impressions were not good.

This hiring definitely feels better than when Sparano came on. Damn that feels so long ago.

He sounds pretty good, but I'm not so sure in front of an entire team of players from diverse backgrounds. Hopefully he comes across the same to them though.

Unfortunately, he really looks old. I know looks should have NO impact on his ability to perform, but it does have some sort of psychological impact on how people react to him and his message. He is 50, but looks 70. As such, he comes off more like a gentle, grandfather type, which I am not so sure fits so well in a place like Miami.

I hope he is up for the task!

Very good insight into Philbin's thinking, especially the one of the interview at the combine. I am very optimistic about Philbin.

Who we bring in as OC and DC will be nearly as important as Philbin's hiring. Should be an interesting few weeks.

I'm not sure I see doubting how he handles himself in front of players "with diverse backgrounds".

Green Bay isn't exactly a 1950's Notre Dame football team. And in Green Bay he regularly ran meetings, taught plays to the players, ran practices, etc.

Defensive players seem to be a whole different animal than most offensive players. Could he handle a room of Ray Lewis's, Joey Porter's etc.? Thankfully, we don't seem to have any of those crazy personalities on this current roster except for Brandon Marshall. But can he put a guy like Marshall in his place with his calm, grandfatherly manner? That is something he will have to learn to do if he doesn't already. He needs to know how to handle difficult players and those with troublesome or intense attitudes. I can't think of any examples on Green Bay's roster, and definitely not on their offense.
