Actually they are right in the picture at the beginning of the video.
He was still reading off notecards but at least he did show some fire. His last speech about resiliency was good. Sounded from the heart

No comparison between Gruden's gift of gab with Philbins lack thereof. Gruden is so great at running his yap that he'll never have to coach again, he can get paid to talk. It's debatable how important this is, though. probably little to none.

fair play, there was a degree of passion in the speech - but they did win and the spotlight was always going to be on him so he should have expected it.
Its obvious that public speaking in that environment is not his forte so I think he actually does need the cue cards/points to address - but you normally associate that with people who have problems remembering information which doesn't translate great to others who are meant to be hanging on to your every word. The spinning was off-putting & it all seemed a bit forced if I was to be quite honest.
Gruden is clearly a better public speaker & you can see not only in the above clip that his players buy into him, regardless if he does waffle on about menial stuff. But that doesn't matter, part of being an HC is selling the stuff to the players - still think Philbin needs to brush up on that.

Most of Gruden's former players who have commented on him also absolutely detest the man, so there's that.

Having speaking points on the cards is completely different.

I have bashed Philbin over this Martin Richie thing but I have to admit, this guy had his team ready to play after a big loss last week....no one but us would have blamed this team for quitting and blaming the distraction....that was a big win, lets see how they handle Cam and the Panthers next week, Most of the league is mediocre, we still have a shot at this thing......
