I didnt get a chance to watch the game on tv last night, and i dont have direct tv so I cant watch it tomorow. So can someone please tell me how Kendall Langford and Philip Merling did? Did they put pressure on the QB?

i think kendall got hurt and merling had a few run stops we stopped jones drew a lot better then last eyar thats for sure he murdered us

I specifically watched Merling on the first few defensive series and I thought he played awesome.
He's plays strong...he has enough strength to push the O-lineman back into the QB.
Also on running plays when he's stood up he gets off the O-lineman very quickly to make the tackle. He really impressed me.
Now if he could learn a couple pass rush moves he'd be awesome.

i just watched the tape and merling had a great game. did a much better job shedding blockers and moving down the line to the ball carrier.

langford still is stronger at the point of attack but to me it's no doubt that we have 2 future very good ends in langford and merling.

for rookies these kids can really play.

Sounds good to me

On a purely aesthetic level, I have been thinking for a while how nice it is that people talk about them as a tandem like Clayton and Duper, or Webb and Simms. For whatever reason I think it adds to the mystique and I hope they develop the same type of dynamic duo reputation from the DE position :hi5:

Both studs.

This new regime knows what they're doing as both of our lines stunk last season. They attacked the lines first in the draft and free agency (trades too with bringing in Fergy etc)

Merling has one of the best spin moves you'll ever see. The problem is that 3-4 DEs arent suppposed to be pass rushing threats. They have assignments that keep them occupying the tackles. OLBs get the sacks in a 3-4. I still think eventually he'll be a OLB but the way he's playing 3-4 DE I could see us just keeping him there. Mark my words, he'll be the best defensive end drafted this year. Better than Chris Long and Vernon Gholston who everyone wanted to get

Both guys are going to be staples on this line for a very long time. These guys are good already and are only going to get better and better....

I didnt watch either of them individually, but rather have been watching the entire D-front. And let me tell you, its a world different than last year. The d-line is active and athletic and getting some push. They will be disrupting some game plans this year - there's an entire slew of starters and subs so look for a constant rotation of fresh and hungry bodies.

I just listened to vonnie holliday gloat about both of them especially kendall

what r u now ron jaworski lol

LEts see when it counts how good these rookies are... Preseason does not prove anything. To me merling and langford are nobodies until proven otherwise during the season. But I will say this about one rookie, Jake Long is one hell of a lineman, Im glad to have him on our team for yrs to come.
