Near the end of the First quarter he blitzes off the edge and has a free shot on McCown, no one even touches wheeler coming in. inexplicably wheeler who is coming from the SIDE bites on a pump fake from McCown and jumps. JUMPS? and McCown who should have been dealt a vicious blow from a linebacker, just strolls right past wheeler and almost picks up a first down by running it himself on 3rd down.

I just have never seen someone in a legitimate starting role for a team play with such a lack for instincts.

On top of all of this he 1. isn't good tackler 2. take horrible angles 3. can't cover anyone to save his life.

I just don't see how it make sense to keep him with the starting unit, sure our back ups are a little inexperienced but hell at least they haven't hit their ceiling. I personally would like to see Mccain with the starting unit. He made more plays in last nights' pre season game than Wheeler made all of last season. I can't watch this guys anymore

I found a clip from the game where you can tell that Wheeler and Ellerbe aren't quite sure of what they should be doing. (Below)

We definately need to invest an early pick next year on a LB.

I'm watching the niners game and find it ver interesting that a good team like the 49ers took Chris Borland in the second round when they already have 2 All pro linebackers. While we went out and got a WR (who could be very good but isn't really a position we were hurting at) and are left with 3 linebackers that are borderline 1st stringers.

not saying Borland was the solution, watching him get smoked by Julius thomas was ugly.

Ever since I was a kid, this team always had a stud linebacker...Buoniconti, Duhe, Offerdahl, and Thomas...

Now we are stuck with Ellerbe and Misi...really? That's the best we can do? Pathetic...

And finished it off slapping the QBs head lucky we didn't get a personal fouls to salt the wound

It was bad. Not as bad as Jordan getting faked out by Luck and stopping and looking around while Luck still had the ball. But still bad.

A positive for that play....was how well Earl Mitchell moves...his speed and pursuit prevented that first down

Wheelerbee are both lacking instincts and toughness. I knew wheeler was bad from watching Colts games, and he is living up to his low standards.
Ellerbee, playing behind Ray Lewis, I thought he was a different cat. I was hoping we scored a great player from Ozzie Newsome. Instead we just took out his trash for him.
Neither of them are good players. Coyle is making chicken salad out of chicken **** back there.
Hopefully the opposing offenses will be mistake prone because I do not see Wheelerbee stopping anyone.
I would just start Misi, Tripp, and the other rookie right now. They would all be flying to the ball by game 6.

I would've preferred keeping an overpaid Dansby to acquiring these two clowns. Complete and utter FAIL by Ireland, which is pretty much par for the course for his overstayed tenure here. Just be thankful that we can cut ties next year, and start building an actual NFL caliber LB corps

cus they have 12+ picks for the last 2 years and more coming....we should watch their waver wire minus Jonathan Martin.

thinking we are cutting our losses with Wheeler soon. Just give me Tripp and Mccain. I would rather those guys learn something valuable and get better quicker.
