Phillips traded to the Eagles

According to the article below, Minnesota is getting 2026 comp picks for Daniel Jones, signed at the end of 2024 after the Giants released him, and Cam Robinson who they traded with Jax for at the 2-25 trade deadline.

See, see. This is what happens when I give AI the benefit of the doubt.

This is why I don't trust it lol.

CURSE YOU GOOGLE AI.

AI has gotten me a few times. Lol

I’ve actually posted to people several times here that they should verify what AI is telling them because I’ve been burned.

All AI is doing is searching the web. (I know, it’s a little more complicated, but for simplicity’s sake) So if a lot of people started claiming that Dan Marino was still playing for the Dolphins AI may pick that up and claim it is true. 😂

What are the eagles fans thinking about this move?

That would be interesting to know.

It would give us some "third party" insight to how they perceive their teams' weaknesses and what they think of the Dolphins Front Office.

I bet they are not wearing bags on their heads, just aluminum foil. - LOL

It was a joke. Technically, Phillips will be a free agent and available to any team in March.

And Philly would get the potential comp pick for Phillips.

Dolphins are still paying almost all of Phillips’ salary to play in Philly for likely flipping a few spots higher from 3rd comp pick up to a bottom of 3rd round.

Well that and getting rid of our best Edge rusher to be even worse on defense and make sure we get don’t win one of the last 8 games.

Ross isn’t going to risk ending up with the 6th pick this time 😂

Yeah, after asking it multiple different ways, I think it was mixing up the answer for the team that traded AWAY the player not receiving

But yeah, AI is only as good as the information put out there by the corrupt man lol

It looks like things are getting a little more clear regarding the trade details.

Yesterday Spotrac had the Eagles with a $6m cap hit for JP. Which would suggest that they paid roughly half of what he is owed this season. Evidently there were reports saying that the Eagles only paid $500k of that ~$6m he was owed. Now Sportrac shows the Eagles with a $1.5m cap hit for JP and I read that the Eagles were initially offering a 4th round pick, but the Dolphins agreed to pay most of his remaining salary if the Eagles gave up a 3rd.

So basically, it seems like the Dolphins gave the Eagles $4.5m plus JP for a 3rd round pick in 2026. In turn, the Dolphins don’t have any dead cap on JP for 2027 and got a 3rd round pick.

It’s hard to say this was a good or bad trade because we don’t know if any other teams were looking to get JP. I think we can safely assume none (or not many) were, and the Eagles gave the best offer.

IMO, I think getting JP’s money off the books in the future, getting a 3rd, and getting an oft injured player off of the roster was a decent move. If JP comes in and plays lights out I can see how that may sway some people into thinking we were robbed, but that hindsight. With the facts we have now it was a decent trade and both teams benefited.

This is a good deal for the Dolphins and with JP injury history there is absolutely no reason to trust you would get a comp pick for him for either team. Miami clears up some space and gets a guaranteed 3 which is still higher than what the comp 3 pick would be, if we got him. A bird in the hand is worth more than 2 in the bush.

Well there goes our 3rd most valuable asset in trade.

Some may say Paul falls in there and they may be right. Although I think they probably would carry the same value.

Philly can just let the athlete show up and show out in their scheme. Wouldn’t be surprised if he finishes 2025 with double digit sacks given that.

They can afford to let guys free lance a little.

I fully agree!

I am not a draft expert, but the way I am looking at this, the reason we have an extra pick in round 3 is because we gave Philadelphia a first round pick. The fact that the first round pick we gave Philadelphia is a few years old doesn’t change the fact that we gave up a first for a third.

New Eagles edge rusher Jaelan Phillips could not hide how fired up he was after his first practice with his new team Thursday.

"I thought I was excited Day 1, talk to me now," he said. "This is literally the greatest thing that has happened to me in my whole life, probably. It's just awesome. The guys are awesome, everybody's been super welcoming. I love the environment here. I love the vibe here."

On Thursday, Phillips mentioned the freedom Fangio's scheme provides so pass rushers can "just pin our ears back and have that aggressive rushing mindset."

God our team is so ****ing stupid.

Happy for him. It must be nice to play for a DC that knows he is an edge rusher and not a cornerback.
