Sorry I missed last week, but work pays the bills. Let's take a look at the OL this week and see how they did. As usual, powerd by Tivo, but limited by the lousy camera work in this ocally produced games.

1st and 10: Brown for 5.

Notes: Working on the dirt infield. Two TE set again.

Diamond: Seals the LB. Decent block.
Carey: Handles the DE
HAdnot: Gets a good push. He's a load.
Seth: Can't get any movement.
James: Stays with his block. Not outstanding but decent.
Mac: Passable block on the outside.
McMike: Ok Block on OLB.

What happened: Some movement upfront, but no real large holes. Brown just bulls his way behind the line.

2nd and 5: Play Action roll out pass for Evans INC.

Notes: Proset. still on the dirt.

No real blocking issue here. Its a play based on trickery not strength.

What happened: The DE read the play got in and forced a quick pass.

3rd and 5: False Start - Seth. Sigh.

3rd and 10: Short pass to McMIke.

Carey: Gets the DE with some help from McMIke on a chip.
Hadnot and Seth: Double Team DT. Fine.
James: Good one on one pass block.
MAc: Superb job on DE. Guy wasn't ever going to be a factor.

WHat happened: Gus had forever and checked down to McMike. He's so use to not having time he is a little quick to check down.

Second Drive

1st and 10: Brown for a loss.

This play requires and explanation instead of a list. This is intended to be an off tackle run, but James gets killed and the DT is in the backfield on the snap. Ronnie dodges to his right, but there is no where to go as Carey has turned out his guy out (which is likely what he was suppose to do). Everyone else does fine.

2nd and 11: Short Pass to Brown

Hard to tell on this play as they forgot to return to the play before the snap.

Carey HAndles the DE one on One. Nicely done.
Hadnot has no one to block.
Seth and James: Go backward but at least they stay in front of the DT.
Mac is ok on the LB.
McMike gets a small block.

What happened: adaquate blocking, Gus checks down early again.

3rd and 6: Sack

Carey: Loses his blanace a little on the dirt, but does a good job.
Hadnot and Seth: easily handle the DT.
James: Just gets beat and gives up the sack.
Mac is fine. He really is doing a good job.

What happened: Ultimately, this is why OL is a team effort. One guy screws up and the play blows up. James just gave a poor off balance effort and looked like a guy who was thinking about dinner plans.

Conclusions:

Carey: He's fine. Still can be beat by quickness in space, but he's fine.

HAdnot: Our best run blocker, getting better in the pass block.

Seth: the big difference with Seth this year is that he knows his assignments and doesn't make too many mental errors. But, he is not a very strong guy in the middle. He doesn't move people and can get knocked backward. He is a stop gap until something better comes along.

James: He was really dissappointing this game. To huge errors in the first two drives. Both basically drive stoppers.

MAc: He is a much better player than last year. He is solid at the tackle.

Thanks man.... !:D

Nice job man, it's hard to so hard to judge individuals on the O-line without Tivo. I'm actually happy with the way the line seems to be coming together. They are already playing better than they were at any point last year.

Everything sounds good but I don't like the fact that Gus checks down to early to much and James is making a lot of money so he better be doing something special soon.

I hope you readress this o-line when the games count. Then it will be a better example of what we can really expect.

"WHat happened: Gus had forever and checked down to McMike. He's so use to not having time he is a little quick to check down."

What this the play that he missed Welker streaking across the middle wide open? I think it was...

I was disappointed with last night, but took it for what it was. A rainy night, no one wanted to get hurt... I'll wait until the Denver game to make my judgement on this team.

Nice analysis. I am not sure if James was beat outright or did not have any leverage because of the dirt infield! It looked like he feet went from under him.

I too watched the game on TiVO and rewound the plays with the 1st team online. I was pleasantly surprised with the very good play of both our tackles again this week.

There is no way to be sure, though he looked pretty bad. Maybe we can call it the infield and feel better though
:)

ok since Carey was moved to RT....who backs up Dmac at LT?...like who played there when Dmac was on the bench

Basically it's St. Clair is my expectation or possibly Carey moving to LT and McDougle RT.
