***Phins/Bills Post Game***

Good tape by Baldy. But this is the frustrating part to me. Where the hell was this attacking defense all year? If they can do that against the Bills, why the heck were they playing like soft pansies for most of the season????!!!
It’s almost like the players DO know how to tackle and aren’t soft because of McD.

I think what we’ve witnessed this season are a bunch of new guys on defense who are being taught a complicated system by a teacher (Weaver) who may not be the best teacher. Weaver is still very green and learning so I’m willing to be patient while he gets rid of the turds and coaches up the rookies and guys new to the system.

On a side note, lots of the McD haters have blamed McD for the defense being so bad this season because he’s the head coach. I laughed at that and was flamed for saying that’s stupid.

I saw Matt Lafuer this last game against the Lions leave the sideline when the Rams defense was in and bury himself in his iPad and notes trying to get the offense going. Completely ignored the defense. 😂

I do too.
I'll always remember Hollins for catching Fitzpatricks pass when Fitz had his head turned sideways with a facemask and still was able to heave it down the field against the Raiders

Good times.....
I do too! Vintage Fitzmagic!

Mike Lafluer is the Rams OCoordinator. I thought there was a big HC'ing shakeup when I read this 🤣

If a team fails everyone has their part in it. If your players are not prepared or they don't give 100%, yes that certainly falls on the position coaches, but ultimately it is the Head Coach who has the responsibility to bring it all together, and he gets the accolades or the vitriol. Much like in a corporation, if the rank and file aren't performing, they will be shown the door, and eventually management will bear the brunt of it as well. When quarterly numbers keep falling below expectations Sr Mgmt then gets perp walked. Whose fault was it that the Bills weren't prepared, and their defense sucked and got manhandled by the Dolphins on Sunday? It doesn't matter...at the end of the day it falls on Sean McDermott.

PS. There is nothing that drives me crazier than seeing Head Coaches only focus on the offense buried in their tablets, and not even look up when the defense is on the field. I think that is ridiculous and a dereliction of duty. I understand that it just may be me, as many Head Coaches now do that. I'm just someone who multitasks well and wants to be involved in everything. Admittedly delegation never came easy to me. ;)

lol… McD is the OC, also.

My point being, DC’s concentrate on what the defense is doing with minimal input from the HC/OC during the games.

This year always had the potential to be rough. Too many new players, several rookies expected to start (or at least play a lot) immediately, and a roster of injury risks.

It all went badly, there's no other way to spin it.

That said, I do think there is more of a core here than some credit.

We won and spanked the bills .. that's all what matters .. purposely rooting for this team to lose for them secure a pick who will be used on a player I don't even know isn't the fandom I identify with.
You're right, but us long time fans are like old cops who think everybody is a criminal because they've been on the job too long. Everything is bad unless it's definitely good.

I'm only old enough to remember Marino. People old enough to remember the '72 Dolphins probably disagree with both of us

If you are using age as a determinator of appropriate judgement, then I'm "RIGHT" and you are "RONG" because I'm 79 years old while you are only a 48-year-old "toddler" in my eyes! - LOL

I think most of us believed this was a transition season. Of course, I don't think many expected the defense to be as atrocious as it was the first half of the season, especially in run support.

The last three weeks have been different. Maintain this level of play, running the ball effectively, and playing solid defense, and it could get interesting.

CB, RT, EDGE and WR (No.2) are the glaring needs.

You can pencil in CB for one of our first two picks.

Past drafts, I’d agree with you but Weaver philosophically values building front to back.

Obviously, it depends on how the board falls, but I think RT and Edge are more likely in first two picks.
