The biggest concern is penalties. All the big plays can win a game, but all the big plays won't mean much if you continue to have penalties. So why is it not getting better?

I first I thought Saban was letting them off the hook and not being strong enough. That is true I believe. You have to shoot for zero and be happy with getting five. Saban has chosen to say "some are good and some are not good". It leave the attitude that some are ok and the refs are much to blame. I think this is wrong, but it is not perhaps, the entire reality.

So the thought for this week is:

We are taking so many penalties because we lack talent and ability. For example linemen keep jumping because they are going to get beat (presnap), or DBs taking a pass inter. call because they are going to get beat (post snap). They can not wait for the ball to snap and then take on their assignment. They are looking for an edge because they are nervous and not entirely sure they can get it done. This may not be purely intentional but it is there. Perhaps Saban even knows this better than us. He can't fix the penalties, because it is not just stopping them, it is better this team and that is going to take time. When the penalties slow down it maybe a sign of the team becoming better more than, "we just decided to address the penalties".

However if this is true, there iwll be no playoffs this year. The need for a win is getting critical if we are to make the playoffs. Everyone of us should know that we are not going to pull out a string of wins suddenly at the end of the year. Yes, anything can happen, but that pie in the sky thinking is not reality.

So as I see more people feel that penalties is our biggest concern, be sure to ask your self why it is not getting fixed. I doubt nobody is trying, which means it is "an ability issue" OR "substandard coaching" which is highly unlikely considering the cost of our coaching staff.

This post is also suggesting Pre snap and Post snap should not be viewed is different. They can occure for the same reason, ability.
