Top 10 Players to be Excited About.....
1) Jay Feely. After Mare's most disappointing season ever, Feely could mean the difference between going 8-8 or 10-6. (I'll get excited about Matt Roth if and when he finally makes an impact.)
2) Ted Ginn Jr. Absolutely!
3) Joey Porter. Our defense was already great. His addition makes it even better. That's sick. (Although the secondary is still a concern.)
4) Daunte Culpepper. He will finally be 100% healthy. If Cameron gives him the opportunity to compete for the starting job, I think he has the potential to lead the Fins to the playoffs this year. (I'll get excited about John Beck after I see him play. But Beck might not even see the field this season. Hard to get excited about a guy holding a clipboard.)
5) Reagan Mauia a.k.a. The Juggernaut. And Sledge, too. Our running attack will be much improved. I hope Mauia plays on special teams because I want to see him "knock some fools out!" (More curious than excited about Jason Allen. Will he play safety or corner? Did he learn anything last year? Will he be able to apply what he learned on the gridiron?)
6) Samson Satale provides a major upgrade to our o-line. And that's very exciting. He will start at LG or C.
7) I'm more excited that the overrated McMichael is gone than I am about David Martin. I don't think Martin is going play a major role in our offense. The only reason Cameron placed such an emphasis on the TE in SD is because he had Antonio Gates.
8) I hope Lorenzo Booker isn't Travis Minor Part 2. But I am getting hyped despite myself. Especially now that Ricky Williams is on shaky ground. There's no doubt that Booker will contribute this year.
9) Edmund Miles. Undrafted free agent. Could become a special teams standout. There's nothing like a huge hit on a kickoff to get the team fired up!
10) Mkristo Bruce and Abraham Wright could both become playmakers on situational downs. It's always exciting to see the opposing QB get sacked on 3rd and long. And I'm excited to see Rod Wright and Fred Evans in action, too.
Our 10 Best Players.....
1) Jason Taylor. Obvious.
2) Joey Porter. Porter could have more of an impact than Zach Thomas this year.
3) Zach Thomas. Getting older but still playing at a very high level.
4) Channing Crowder. Wow. Now that's a LB corps.
5) Ronnie Brown. Big things may be in store for Ronnie now that Cam Cameron is our coach.
6) Will Allen. Underrated because he's not a ball hawk. CB is a thankless position. You only notice Allen when he makes a mistake, which is not often. Will Allen is the reason we didn't draft a CB this year.
7) Chris Chambers. After last year, I'm hesitant to call him one of our best, but the addition of Ted Ginn just made Chris Chambers a whole lot better.
8) Keith Traylor and Paul Soliai. I'm hesitant to list a rookie as one of our best, which is why I'm not including Ted Ginn... yet. But after studying under Traylor for a year, I think Soliai will be the foundation of our d-line for many years to come. The oil that makes the whole machine run.
9) Daunte Culpepper. He said it best himself. When healthy, Culpepper is an elite QB in this league. Unfortunately, he might not be with the Fins when the season starts.
10) Jay Feely. If he kicks the game-winning field goal in any of our games this year, how can you not consider him one of our best players?
2007 Pro Bowlers.....
I don't like making Pro Bowl predictions before the bye week.
