Not Dolphin related, but why did the Falcons punt the ball back to the Bucks with 56 seconds left in overtime? Didn't they need to win the game? As far as i knew, a tie didn't do them much good in the playoff scenerios. So, what sense did it make to not go for it on 4th and 1 with your playoff chances on the line? Some body please enlighten me!

I don't think Jim Mora was able to get a clear answer from his personnel on how a tie affected their playoff hopes, according to ESPN. He was confused and unsure of what to do.

Is he an idiot?

Would he have imagined they would be nearing a tie?

Besides, the playoff scenarios are so complicated I'm hearing sportscasters and sportswriters contradicting each other on what is and isn't possible (read my "correct me if I'm wrong" post for an example).

After the game yesterday, Atlanta's team spokesperson explained they were still mathematically alive but practically eliminated and it took them to go to an actual representative of the NFL to confirm no, they weren't even mathematically alive!

Bottom line is, though, neither team deserved to win and I was hoping it would end in a tie as it would have served them right and been indicative of both of their seasons.

When a tie happens once every 5 years, you aren't expecting it. Yes, he should have known, but I can see a lot of NFL coaches making that same mistake in the same situation.

according to one of the announcers, a Falcons tie would've mathematically KEPT them in the playoff hunt. The only thing I blame Jim Mora Jr. for is not knowing that going into the game, but again, a tie is so rare that the mistake of not knowing is understandable.

I'm no brain surgeon!

your right, u are no no brain surgeon, there were 3 teams in front of them, and 6 teams go to the playoffs.

Had Redskins and Dallas lost, a tie wouldnt of hurt their playoff chances.

If it isn't Dolphins related. Then post it in the correct forum.

No Mike Martz is the dumbest coach

he was going to kick a field goal once when he was down by 4 at the end of the game because he didnt know the score

because if they went for it and didn't make it, the bucs would be in field goal range easily. the kick would go through, and they'd be out of the playoffs. if they punt it, the bucs may do nothing, and the game is a tie, which keeps them alive. guess he doesn't want to be eliminated, which is CRAZY
