Playoff System Possible in 2010...

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- If the Bowl Championship Series were to adopt a mini-playoff format, it wouldn't happen until at least the 2010 college football season.


BCS coordinator and Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive said Monday he was "very, very open-minded about a plus-one," which could create a four-team playoff.


"I think we need to take a very hard look at that," Slive told reporters at a Football Writers Association of America meeting.
But a full-fledged NFL-style playoff has no chance of happening anytime soon, Slive said.


"The question is 'Is 1 and 2 enough?'" he said.
Slive doesn't expect any changes until Fox's four-year $320 million TV deal ends with the 2010 bowls.

Yep a 4 team playoff would be nice . . . I guess I would rather see a 8 team playoff . . . but I like the +1 concept

4 team playoff is better than no playoff I guess. But does that mean it only goes to the big conferences? Because I bet Boise never would have made a 4 team playoff this year.

Definately need a 4 team playoff, especially after this year. All the talk about Michigan deserving it over Florida should really be who should Florida have played instead of OSU......

4 team playoff would be okay, but Boise St still would have been screwed this year. An 8 team playoff would be the best, but it would take to long and don't think they would ever go for it.

4 team playoff is great! I mean anything to improve what we have now. I think 8 is a good number

How would this would work?

Basically what it would have been this yr is 1. OSU v 4. LSU and 2. UF v 3. UM. The winners would play a week later for the national championship game.

Add conference championships for all teams....no need for a playoff system. This just breeds for people wanting larger playoffs, which pushes seasons longer and affects spring football duties. We don't need a "January Madness" for college football.
The BCS works, IMO.

8 team would be better...then teams like boise will still have a chance....i think D2 schools have it down perfect
