Ok, with Saban's departure every good Fin is doing his darnedest to think of a solid candidate to replace Nicksama Bin Saban and I have my own ideas, however, why do the following names keep getting named?

1. Kirk Ferentz: He's 13-12 over the last two years in a very weak Big 10, he had a couple solid years, but I think his magic is running out
2. Jim Mora, Jr.: Why do people want Saban v2 plus installing the 5-year WCO?
3. Pete Carroll: He wasn't good in the NFL, why give him another shot? Also, the guy will want total control and more money than Paris Hilton.
4. Dom Capers: Great coordinator, not so great head coach. Yeah, he controlled an expansion squad, but I'm not blown away.

Anyway, a thread without offering my own choices and being totally open to criticism is more than acceptable.

1. Cam Cameron: He didn't exactly turn chicken shiz to chicken salad, but the man made Antonio Gates into a superstar after he didn't play a down of college football and Rivers has put up great passing numbers with who at WR (Vincent Jackson not included)?

2. Ken Wisenhunt: OC for the Steelers, I think he's a fascinating choice. Not sure if he can get things to work here, but I think it's interesting.

3. Doug Marrone: OC/OL Coach for the Saints. The guy worked wonders with the Jets OL in 2004 when Curtis Martin ran for 17 billion yards and LaMont Jordan ran for another half a million or so. I like the Saints playbook and their weapons seem a bit like ours, with some talent that never quite got fully utilized.

Anyway, what does everyone think?

I think Norm Chow has been a proven commodity and deserves a chance. I think he could end up like Peyton in NO.

Mora because he's young and has potential. Atlanta was hot until Vick tried to be a QB.

Capers had the Panthers in the title game in like two years didn't he? Is a great DC and has coached 2 teams so he has experience.

No Carroll or any other college coach except Weiss.
Cameron I wouldn't mind.

Wisenhunt I wouldn't mind.

Don't have an opinion of Marrone yet but like the idea of a successful OC becoming coach.

What about the Cincy OC?

The Cincy OC is hated by the Cincy fans that I know, so I don't think we'd be that happy with him and to me their offense seems more dependent on pure skill by their players than preparation and a superior gameplan.

Well, whomever it is I think it's about high time we got an offensive minded coach here as opposed to all of our past coaches who were defensive minded. No coincedence that the D has been solid past 10 years and the O has been crap.

Second thing is I hope we have a separation of powers with GM and Head coach, not sure if Mueller's the guy or if we should try and bring in Ron Wolf. The team needs to be rebuilt, offense immediately, time to start that process.

Norv Turner! Atleast we had a freakin Offense when he was in Miami.

Like I said in the other thread:

Ken Whisenhunt FTW. Ken, with a good free agency, can have an immediate impact like Sean Payton; he would also fix this offensive line and likely recruit some of his own from the Steelers [Max Starks maybe?] to fit his smash mouth mentality. Ronnie Brown will benefit from him a lot IMO.

I want either Charlie Weiss or Norm Chow.

1. Charlie Weiss
2. Charlie Weiss
3. Charlie Weiss
4. Norm Chow
5. Charlie Weiss
6. Norm Chow
7-33. See the above
34. Anybody else.

I'd put Cam into that same list as yours. He's failed in his prior HC gig.

My choice is Al Saunders. That guy is all about power OL's and running the ball.

Didn't Charlie Weis just sign a 10-year deal or something like that?

Jeez...Weis was extended in 2005.

Notre Dame extends Weis through 2015ESPN.com news services

SOUTH BEND, Indiana -- It took Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis only seven games to earn a new contract.

Notre Dame has signed Weis to a new 10-year deal, the school announced Saturday.
