What are the overall ramifications for what Minnesota did to Seattle on the Hutchinson situation? The language used in the offer sheet set up bad things for teams with restricted free agents in the future?

Secondly, what is Childress attempting to do? I have never seen a more aggressive attempt to paint a player in a bad light. Is this PR damage control? Whatever you call it, I am disappointed in Childress already and he hasn't coached his first game. I say all this to say I realize Culpepper is not a saint and may have brought some of this attack on himself, but you would think a new coach wants to start on the high road. And what about the owner in all this? Minnesota as an organization just dropped a couple of notches in my book.

DAMAGE CONTROL!!! He just let a 3 time ProBowl QB walk for less than a first round pick.

The Vikings are the worst organization(along with the Jets) in the league.

Childress is doing his best to make it seem he had no choice but to get rid of Daunte. Think about it. The Vikings gave up a franchise QB for a 2nd round pick, so that they can go into next season with 38 year old journeyman Brad Johnson. That's like giving a young Marino away so that we can have Jay Fiedler as our QB. Childress is going to find himself in a s***storm without an umbrella next season when his team tanks and Culpepper leads Miami deep into the playoffs. That's why he's trying so hard now to make Daunte look like a bad sheep.

This is not a move Saban would have made. Saban would have found a way to keep Culpepper happy and kept him on the team (Ricky anyone?). I can't believe that when Childress and Saban's names came up as possible replacements for Wanny, I actually prefered Childress because he was a pro coach. The thought of Childress as our HC and Saban elsewhere makes me shudder.

And Detroit and Arizona coming in at a close 3rd and 4th.

With the Redskins in 5th.

Any team that can trade Ramsey for a 2nd and waits another year to trade him for a 6th then give #1WR money to a #3 WR, traded this years first for Campbell, the Portis/Bailey trade when RB's are a dime a dozen, and then makes Adam Archuleta one of the highest paid safeties in the NFL ranks horrible in my book.

1. The "poison pill" the vikes put into the contract stated that if Hutch was not the highest paid member on the offensive line the entire contract is guaranteed. Meaning if he is injured/cut or retires he continues to collect his 49 million till he gets it all. With the vikes its not a problem cause no one is making more than hutch, but in seattle all-pro LT Walter Jones is making more. So if seattle matched the contract they would have to guarantee it.

2. Their has been a lot of fall-out and a lot of eyebrows raised. An all-pro QB does not demand his trade and then get away for a second round pick. So now childress is trying to turn it all against culpepper, instead of admitting his own IQ is equal to a sea sponge.

:tantrum: Childress needs to pay more attention to his new team. And forget about Pep. Pep is no longer a Vike. Childress sound like a girl that just got rejected an got her heart broken.

1. That tactic may limit the use of the transition tag.

2. Childress is being classless. Saban would have handled it like the Surtain thing last year. He was a a star player at a position of need that we traded for a 2nd rounder. But b/c of the money he wanted and injury concerns Saban didn't feel it was in the team's best interest to keep him. To this day I couldn't tell you if it was the right decision. (You could make the argument we might have made the playoffs last year with him here.) What Saban did was praise Surtain until shortly after he was traded then stopped talking about him. He focused on the future and of course (and probably most important) he won more than people expected.

Oh coaches have done much worse. How about leaving players roting to death on the bench to destroy their careers. I think it is more about him covering his own butt and lining up his excusses.

yea, seriously! 1st of all, he was never on the team together with Culpepper for him to be even talking about CUlpepper so much . To me, Childress is the one who did not handle that properly. He's a new coach, he should have set up a meeting with Culpepper, explained everything that he's trying to do with the team, smooth it out, assure Pep that he's gonna be the center piece of the team, and Daunte would have more than likely been cool with it all and they can move on. But noooo....Childress got all angry cause Pep was rehabbing somewhere else (HIS HOME TOWN, mind you) and wasn't automatically there to meet and greet him and kiss his feet. Now, Childress KNOWS he F****D up, there's NO QB worth getting anymore, and he's STILL sore about it (brought it on himself)..So now he's just showing what a little girl he is. KEEP DAUNTE's NAME OUT YO MOUTH, BRAD! Can't wait to slap that team silly this year.:shakeno:

I'm REALLY Glad that the Vikes and Chilldress' mustache will make a trip to Miami this season.
