Henne played outstanding last night. Great poise, leadership, pocket presence, ball velocity and touch, accuracy...blah blah blah...

I know I started another thread but that was in direct response to all the hatred towards Henne and the cry for Thigpen of all people without giving him a chance.

I am a huge Henne fan and have been since I am also a Michigan fan, so if anyone has their judgment somewhat skewed towards Henne it is me. I am NOT in love with the guy, but know what he is capable of.

However, let's put away the "savior" threads and "definitive our guy" thread and the even more unbelievable "our next marino" threads and watch the guy mature over the weeks.

He is going to throw INT's and make bad calls but let him develop. He could stink it up against the Saints and come back and have another great game against the jets. My point is that we cannot rush judgment either way on him. He is NOT Joe Flacco or Matt Ryan but his own set of skills.

Either way, great performance last night but we still have work to do on defense. Let's be levelheaded about Henne and enjoy the maturation of POSSIBLY the guy we can build our franchise on.

Lastly, please stop bashing Chad Pennington. The guy has been great for our franchise and deserves RESPECT by each and every one of us. For all we know, he could have been and still continues to be a mentor to Henne. I know personally, if there is anyone I want to teach Henne the "cerebral" part of the qb position, it would be CP.

I think the reason most people are saying this IS because we haven't seen a QB so relaxed and he gets in the O-Line's face and tell them they ****ed up, now that's a QB in my book! Look at Pat White when he gets in there you can tell his nerves are going a mile a minute, whereas Henne looks like he's done this for years.

Pat White reminds me of that QB in the movie "The Waterboy" please don't hit me, please don't hit me

good post man. i agree 100%. i'll hive henne the rest of the season to develop befor i pass judgment. it's getting kinda old hearing people bash pennington everytime they compliment henne.

Dude, how often do you see a person in their 2nd start take the game on their shoulders and just WIN? Not every game this year is going to be like this, agreed, BUT he looks like he's going to be something special in the years to come. Also I feel like a large part of Henne's development is BECAUSE of Pennington, I would never bash Pennington. Only wish he had all the same tools Henne does.

If the line plays like we have the past 2 game

He will be fine....

Played great last night

So, first you start a thread to fire people up and call out Henne detractors to rub it in their faces, then start a thread to keep him in perspective? Nice.

I know, I started another thread about pat white...

What I am trying to convey is that the this forum appears to be full of knee jerk reactions regarding players but that is part of the fandom of a team I guess.

I just think Pennington deserves more respect and Marino deserves the utmost respect and having him compared to Henne right now is disrespectful. Wishful thinking at best for us. I know we are all excited right now but I don't also want to see 2 weeks from now, the Henne bashers out in force if he doesn't play well, calling for his head and Thigpen to start.

He did play well against a good d last night...

Great poise against pressure too

It is one thing to say he had a great game but I never proclaimed him to be the franchise. This thread was more in response to those that are going to come in and start calling him the second coming of dan marino after 1 game or then if he doesn't play well, calling for his head on a platter. It is disrespectful to Marino as well as the bashing is disrespectful for pennington. Just because we are fired up, doesn't mean we have to all don homer glasses and say his going to lead us to 3 superbowls and throw for 65k yards with 400+ tds.

It is called putting things into perspective.

I'm a grown man. I will make my decisions on my own.

Matt Ryan was a savior after a few games. Jet fans certainly think Sanchez is the savior after 5 starts. Henne just outplayed Sanchez on the national stage and looked like one of the league's best young QBs.

I wont hold judgment. I've been a Henne fan since the beginning. He did this all against one of the best defenses in the NFL. **** waiting to pass judgment, we finally have our QB of the future.

true if pennington had henne's arm.. wow that would be something.. but that being said.. henne suits this offense better with his deep ball.. and i think ginn will bennefit from henne as well.. can wait to see that long strike again..

Yea now lets make sure we protect him and keep on pounding that rock

While this may be true, something tells me that you may not be the one who is going to say Henne is the next marino either....

I agree, he is still young and inexperienced and although he had a nice game against the Bills and a really good game last night, he is going to have growing pains and we all need to realize that. I like what I see so far!

Good post. We need all the fans who watched Henne play at Michigan we can get.

God, I hope that Henne is going to be a reliable, top 10 QB and not just another one of the many QBs we've gone through since Marino. He had an awesome game last night. Let's hope he can do that CONSISTENTLY. That's the "acid test" for an NFL QB.

I'm hoping that the QB coaches and everyone else are ratcheting Henne up a few notches higher than he's ever been. Maybe Henne will blow his own mind in the next few months. It can happen. Remember that another Michigan QB named Tom Brady went waaay up in his skill levels once he got into the NFL. Brady was a 6th rounder you know. Our OC Dan Henning has a lot of confidence in Henne. Man, I hope his gut feeling about Henne is right on the money.
