If you look at Reggie's injury history...He was injured returning a kick that ruined his 2008 season and carried over and ruined his 2009 season. He then followed that up by getting injured again returning a kick in 2010.

This guy is key to this new offense we are running...let Livas return the damn kicks and keep Reggie away from it....returning kicks and the injuries it has caused him is the biggest reason we even had a shot to bring his talent to Miami. We may have struck gold getting him...lets not waste him like New Orleans did returning kicks.

Trust me, Sparano and Ireland are very smart and hard working guys. I'm sure they've done their due diligence and fully well know the reasons behind Reggie's injury history. No way they waste such a dynamic playmaker, that will be a key cog in ur offense, on returning kicks. As Sparano said, Reggie May return a punt in certain "situations", but I doubt that will happen often, even if Livas doesn't make the 53

I don't think they will be using him as a kick/punt returner. It is why guys like Gates, Livas and Sheets(who is now gone) have been auditioning for those roles.

I'm with you BlueFin. i want Reggie used only with our offense,NOT STs.

I certainly hope not...his history makes it clear its something he should not be doing (assuming you are counting on him to be your feature back).

And I am sure the Coaches in New Orleans were just as smart...they did win a Superbowl. However, they made the mistake of letting him return kicks in 2010, after his prior two seasons were ruined by returning kicks. So...excuse me if I don't trust you or them.

In my opinion, Reggie should not return any kicks...he is too valuable.

Hopefully this a no brainer. I wasn't aware that Reggie's injuries came from returning kicks. Makes me feel a little more confident he can stay healthy as a rb.

I doubt he is used in ST's but even if he is, most of them will be touchbacks lol

Yes, its a reverse positive so to speak. I'm not sure its a no brainer though, Very intelligent coaches in New Orleans never got it.

Yes, and people say I'm rationalizing his durability...fact is none of his injuries came from taking too much of a pounding running between the tackles...they've all been in space, and I think but for one ankle injury his rookie season, all on STs.

Apples to oranges my friend. NO didn't see Reggie as anything but a utility flex player. A playmaker they used in any place they saw him to be of value. We seemingly look at Reggie as one of our featured offensive weapons, I think this staff value him much more than NO did.

I know Sparano has thought about using him to return punts in certain situations, but haven't heard anything about kicks

Yes, you can already see that. I never thought SP wanted to draft Reggie anyway...but it was pretty clear from day one he was never going to use him in a featured role.

it was 2008 and 2010 where he got hurt returning punts. tweaked his knee in 08 and broke his leg in 2010

In a scenario at the end of a tight game, us down by less than a TD, I could see him returning a kick off or punt.
I think him being the returner would be a very rare exception.
