Good article on the many things Hard Knocks and us fans will be watching as camp starts next week.

TOP FIVE POSITION BATTLES
1. Quarterback: The three-way battle between Matt Moore, David Garrard and Ryan Tannehill could be the best reality TV of the year, though don’t expect Tannehill to get too many snaps with the first-team offense. The Dolphins don’t want to rush his development.
2. Wide Receiver: Some familiar names (Chad Ochocinco? Clyde Gates?) won’t make the roster as 10 receivers battle for three or four spots behind Brian Hartline and Davone Bess.
3. Strong Safety: Fourth-year vet Chris Clemons is the front-runner to replace Yeremiah Bell, but Jimmy Wilson, Tyrone Culver and Tyrell Johnson provide stiff competition.
4. Right guard: If John Jerry can’t beat out 11-year vet Artis Hicks for the job, don’t be surprised if the Dolphins cut their 2010 third-round pick.
5. Running Back: With Reggie Bush, Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller locks for the roster, the fourth job will come down to Steve Slaton, Jerome Messam, Jonas Gray and Marcus Thigpen.

You never know. Garrard or Moore could get injured or play bad giving Ryan his chance. He will be going against the second and third D so he may light in up in practice and then have a great preseason. If he outperforms the other two I think the job is his though I would perfer he sits awhile before he's thrown to the lions.

one way or the other ryann will have to be put into some action this year via preseason or if we are getting our azzes handed to us or if we are cleaning someones clock.the kid has to have some showing this year to guage just what he brings to the next level.its easy to say he did it in college so he can do it in the pro's.but we all know the draft is not a rocket science.so we have to try out our new toy take it for a spin and see just what it can do.

I think Matt meant by Tanny not being there is because he hasn't signed his contract
and that alone would be a storyline

By most reports Ryan's running third to start camp. Every player they have interviewed raved about Garrard's professionalism and locker room presence. Matt's wont go down without a fight. This should be an interesting battle.

I think Tanny gets signed next week or just after camp starts like Pouncy last year so that should not be a problem.
If not it will be THE story line.

Matt Moore had a pretty darned good year in 2011 and Garrard was a pro Bowler in 2010- we have two solid options in these guys and barring a major surprise Tannehill ain't gonna play significantly regardless of when he signs his contract. Why rush him when he's fairly raw as a college QB, much less an NFL QB? Tannehill will in all likelihood be brought along slowly, as he should be.

Chris clemmons is leading for STRONG SAFETY?? Isnt he a free safety? Id rather have jones and wilson battle out strong safety

Yea , i think he got that part backwards. Clemmons has never played strong to my knowledge though they say it will not matter in the new D.
