This is not a bash Tua thread. This is an exercise to hopefully avoid weekly Tua threads.
Best of luck with that.
What are you talking about??? Burrow and Herbert had lower YPG, lower passer rating, lower QBR, lower completion %, lower success %, lower TD %, lower YPA, etc, etc, etc. They were lower in almost every possible category.
That is why I didn't post any volume numbers in my response. Since they had lower passing yards per game, they still would have fewer passing yards than Tua if they played all 17 games. This is not difficult to understand. Same thing with all the other stats.I'm talking about both QB's seasons were shortened to injury therefore due to less games played the numbers you posted are as such.
The problem is that his prior form was dependent on things around him that aren't easily replicable, and so the probability that he returns to that form is unlikely. There needs to be a "maybe" option. If he returns to form, then hell yes. If not, then hell no.
Sad that Dolphins fans are convinced that the team cannot assemble a middling offensive line. The problem is that his prior form was dependent on things around him that aren't easily replicable, and so the probability that he returns to that form is unlikely.
You could say the same for at least 6 or 7 other QBs.In whatever you considered his peak , he wasn’t close to a $50m a year guy. That’s insane. Seriously , not within 20-25 million of what he would have gotten on the open market
Are you saying because other teams make poor decisions, that it's OK that we do?You could say the same for at least 6 or 7 other QBs.
So you think Tua would be an All Pro level QB if only he had a better line?Sad that Dolphins fans are convinced that the team cannot assemble a middling offensive line.
Followng Tua's 4th season, before he signed the big contract, most people here and the media talking heads were saying "pay him, pay the market price".Are you saying because other teams make poor decisions, that it's OK that we do?
I hope not, because that would be ridiculous.
Except they wanted to pay market price for a statistically good, but overall flawed product.Followng Tua's 4th season, before he signed the big contract, most people here and the media talking heads were saying "pay him, pay the market price".
Myself and a few others here were saying "cut him or let him play on his rookie contract 5th year option".
Up until this season, Tua has been a good enough QB with average to below average OLs. Tua has limitations. IMO, his skills have outweighed his limitations, until this season. If he doesn’t get it fixed, he will be gone. If he does, we have our QB, limitations and all.So you think Tua would be an All Pro level QB if only he had a better line?
You are really oversimplifying what most ppl believe about the situation.
Tua has a limited ceiling, IMO, regardless of what's around him.
Would the team be better with a better line? Sure, but that doesn't change the reality of what Tua is or isn't.
"Good enough" is the enemy of "great".
IMO, it wasn’t a poor decision at the time.He was the QB of a top 5 passing offense. They were #1 in passing yards and #4 in passing TDs in 2023. They were even better when he was healthy in 2022. Those are just facts. You don’t have to like them but they are facts. Are you saying because other teams make poor decisions, that it's OK that we do?
I hope not, because that would be ridiculous.
Good enough to win what?Up until this season, Tua has been a good enough QB with average to below average OLs. Tua has limitations. IMO, his skills have outweighed his limitations, until this season. If he doesn’t get it fixed, he will be gone. If he does, we have our QB, limitations and all.
