First of all, is it really neccesary to abbreviate a three-letter word?

Secondly, it's impossible to grade Jason Allen based on what we've seen this year due to the fact that he hasn't been placed into the role that he was drafted to be in. In Saban's defense, the FS and SS often interchange because of how Saban splits his defense into the 30 and 40 side based on the strong side of the offense. That being said, there is no FS or SS in Saban's defense, they're both simply considered Safeties. Also, because of how Saban's defense calls for so many players to have gap duties due to it not being a true 3-4 or 4-3 (rather an Over/Under front defense) it often leaves atleast one of his Safeties alone in coverage, especially when the opposing offense goes into 3 and 4 wide receiver sets. All we've really seen Jason Allen do is play a Cover 2 in Nickel/Dime packages and play special teams, which is not what he was drafted to do.

You're asking people to grade Jason Allen based on physical attributes in comparison to other NFL players, because neither you nor I have seen him operate full force in a very complicated defense. If you want an answer, I give him an A-, and I firmly believe he has the football skills to be an elite defender. That being said, Saban's safeties are more mental than anything due to the fact that in a given play they have to make 3+ reads and call the right coverage.

its tough to grade him now, its been tough for him to get on the field with the way the secondary play has been... but when hes been there hes played great and thats all you can ask of him, contribute when you get a chance... so in that regard id give him a B+

I'm gonna give him an A- so far. I know that's generous but I think he's gonna become a solid player.

In his minimal on field action, I will give the production and execution about a B/B-. But I won't grade the pick at this point, because it's way too early to tell how good a pick he was.
