If the Dolphins were to trade up for ILB Rey Maualuga some around pick #11 to #13

Would you give the 1st round #25 pick and the 2nd round #44?

(based on the NFL Value Chart - #11 pick - 1250 points

#25 ( 720 pts) + #44 (460 pts) = 1180 points...)

pull that in a heartbeat...probably would still have to give up something else.... ( something next year?? or late round pick?

POLL...

#1. Trade up and get Maualuga ( Physical Playmaker and position of need)
#2. No on Maualuga... get the Best Player Available at @25/another position..
#3. Dont mind trading up..but not more Maualuga...
#4. Would love Maualuga... but too many needs...keep draft picks

Similiar draft day trade ups......

In 2007 Jets swaped first round picks with Panthers going from #25 to #14 in exchange for their second round #59 and a fifth round #164.
2008 Jax swapped first rounds with Ravens. Going from #26 to #8 in exchange for 2 third round picks and a fourth round pick.

Just for fun... add your comments...

I'd be very happy to see it happen, but I know it wouldnt be the right thing to do.

i'd love to have Maualuga, but we have other needs we need to address,so i feel we should stay put....

Stay put at 25. We would probably have to give up more than #25 and #44 to break the top 11. I think that draft value chart that JJ created way back is pretty much worthless these days. It's very top heavy and there aren't many elite players in this years draft imo.

I'd love to have him, his motor constantly runs, I have read some people think he is too aggressive, wouldn't that be a switch from Crowder. But I don't think he is worth trading up for. There aren't too many players in this draft that I would want to trade up for (of course depending on how much it would cost.)

i'd rather trade both 2nds for a 15-20 first .BUT if i'm trading my first (#25) and #44 (jason taylor pick) i'd want #11-13 plus their 5th or 6th. that way we've moved up 14 slots in the first, regained our 6th and all it cost was JT. i'd make that swap anyday!

I gave you 2 examples with the Jets and Jaguars.. with very similiar draft positions... 07 and 08 draft

right we may have to give a 5th or later as well...

its right next to the laurinitis is good option. ohh right, neither one exists.
I never said he was good. Ohio LBs suck in the NFL usually. Maualuga can't cover or rush the passer and he is slow. Not to mention he is way too small for our defense and is short to boot. Plus he has lots of off the field baggage.

Maualuga is not worth that much. He's good, but not great IMO. He's been a little overrated for a while now. He plays violent, hits hard, and is the intensity leader on defense for USC, but he also overruns a lot of plays, gets caught in the wash and stuck on too many blocks, lacks change of direction in space, and has been noted on several occasions to be out of shape...which could only get worse as he ages. If they want a LB, wait and see who drops b/c there are plenty out there. But we have too many needs to be trading up and spending other picks on a guy with so many question marks. He's not the player Patrick Willis was coming out.
