Canes. My dad started taking me to games when I was early in elementary school. He couldn't get me to pay attention until he pointed out #89 and said, "Watch him on every play." I thought all the players were the same. Then I see this huge #89 tossing everyone aside and then grabbing the ball away, almost as an afterthought. That was Ted Hendricks, at left end #89.

Canes are at least tenfold over my second team, my alma mater USC. I hated USC until it was obviously the best place for me to go to school considering the weather, babes, athletic department, journalism program, student newspaper and half scholarship. Still, none of my friends could believe I was actually going there. I used to diss 'SC while calling Miami radio sports talk shows from maybe age 8.

My third team, albeit distant, would be Notre Dame. I'm probably the only person who likes Miami, USC and Notre Dame. I was an Oklahoma diehard in the '70s and '80s during the wishbone era, but now I root against them.

The only team I despise is Florida. My dad taught me that, very properly, at maybe age 3.

Just about any team from Florida. The below are in order.
Miami because they were the team I grew up near.
Air Force because I did 20.
UCF Golden Knights because I lived in Orlando for a little while and I like underdogs.
Florida because I was going to go to college there, and also because my cousin went there.
Florida State because it's a Florida Team and you always want the interstate rivalries to be good games.

Needed to allow for multiple options in the poll. I'm a USC and Auburn fan. Love to watch USC but I have always liked Auburn going back to the Bo Jackson, Lionel "night train" James days. Always root for them against Alabama.

I love college football. I'm also a bit of a Michigan fan (that sounds incongruous, being a USC fan). But, I have been watching Bowl games since 1967 and I crave the traditional matchups of college football:

Michigan/Ohio St V USC/UCLA in the Rose Bowl. Nothing like it. The 70's afforded some tremendous matchups there.

There is a shot for a Michigan/USC Rose Bowl National Championship this year - but it's a bit unlikely. Even if USC goes undefeated, they may not make it in the game b/c their competition may not be that strong this year.

Rivalry games are the best - Mich-Ohio St.; Auburn-Alabama; USC-UCLA; Okla-Texas; Okla-Neb.(loved the '71 game - Johnny Rodgers is the greatest college player I ever saw); FSU-Miami; Texas-Ark. (the '69 UT-UA game was one of the greatest ever).
