First, he gets beat up in Tampa Bay. Then he's traded to SF where he plays behind Joe Montana and never is really accepted the way he should have been. When I first moved to the Bay Area I couldn't believe the lack of respect this guy got in the media and mostly by the fans. He might not have been as good as Montana, but he was awfully close.

Then Young is elected to the Hall of Fame the same year as Dan Marino and 21,000 Dolphin fans are in attendance. It was the Dan Marino show all the way and as one of the announcers said it was like a Dolphins home game. What a great weekend to be a Dolphin fan with Shula, Stephenson, Griese, Warfield (he looked like he could still play), Clayton etc. all there to honor Dan. And what an incredible job by Daniel Marino in his speech honoring dad!

I think Steve Yound did better at replacing a HOF quarterback than anyone recently. I think he did get national respect for sure, and I am sure local respect after awhile.

It was a dolphin day for sure, hopefully tonight as well.

Giving that Steve young did nothing in Tampa bay and than he was good in SF. my question is do you think Steve young is a true HOFer or was it the talent level on the SF team that made him look good? Marino elevated the miami team to a higher level. Young could not do that in Tampa bay.

It's true, he did get national respect and finally did win over the San Francisco fans as well. But, even after an MVP season people were calling for his head after a few bad games. Young always handled that well, though. I think he's a remarkable person and certainly one of the best qb's to ever play the game.

I'm with you. I hope Miami puts an exclamation point on the weekend celebration. Although, my main concern is that the team plays well and avoids injuries.

Yes Steve made the team better. He had a good arm, he was smart, he was a strong cometitor and he could move with good vision.

By the QB rating numbers, Steve Young and that WCO just flat out awesome. He is worthy of the HOF, but I don't really feel bad for him that he played second fiddle to somebody, much less Dan.

Well, if he stayed in Tampa Bay I don't think he would have been a Hall of Famer. Maybe he would have eventually put up decent numbers, but that club was just way down in talent for too long. On the reverse, someone like Steve Bartkowski or Archie Manning might have made the Hall of Fame if they were on different teams. Bottom line -- it's a team game.
