The 31-year-old former Pro Bowler didn't take the field during the opening practice of training camp this morning at the team's training facility.

Porter, who signed a five-year, $32 million contract in March 2007, has been placed on the physically unable to perform list with an ankle injury suffered during training last week, coach Tony Sparano said.

Porter can be activated at any time and counts as one of the team's 80 roster spots.

"Anybody who watched him out there knows it wasn't anything really serious," coach Tony Sparano said Saturday between two-a-day sessions. "But we need to be careful with him. We expect him back shortly. He needs to continue to rehab right now."

At least it isn't his knee acting up.
 
From the reports that he was running sprints with Lehan this morning, I would say this is nothing serious.
 
I hope so, we need a ring leader out there who is serious. I like Crowder and his sense of humor, but I want a no nonsense guy out there dictating things!

The injury really isn't anything serious. However, it still makes me ask the question why Cam and Randy threw so much money at this guy?

No question, we did over pay him, but he is here and started to find his groove last year after being misused the whole year.
 
Joey Porter is going to dominate and lead our defense this year. Seriously, where would we be right now (with JT and ZT gone) without him and Vonnie? Let's see if we are talking about the contract he was given at the end of the year.
