Chargers | Porter interested in team?
Sat, 3 Mar 2007 06:45:55 -0800
Mike Sullivan, of the <A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/180">North County Times, reports free agent LB Joey Porter (Steelers) is interested in playing for the San Diego Chargers, according to sources.

Hopefully just some posturing.

I truly believe it is bro. AJ said they are going to be quiet in free agency, and I believe they only have like 12 mil to spend in free agency. Three places to check on are www.mty1090.com local am radio, and www.signonsandiego.com The UT in SD, and www.northcountytimes.com is the local paper here where I live in Oceanside if you are interested.

I don't think San Diego needs a linebacker.

Porter is just making the rounds. With Merryman and Phillips still there at OLB, he won't be starting and I doubt he'll want to come off the bench.

I doubt it, they just signed Shaun Phillips to a 6 year deal to play opposite Merriman as the other OLB

Porter wants to go anywhere where they pay him huge money...... Money Money Money...

The Chargers have privately decided Dielman's worth to them, and it is doubtful it's close to the deal Steinbach landed.

Outside linebacker Joey Porter, cut by Pittsburgh on Thursday in a salary-cap move, is interested in playing with the Chargers, according to sources who spoke with Porter on Friday. The Bakersfield native expects to visit with San Francisco in coming days.

Porter doesn't appear to be a fit for the Chargers, who have two young, productive outside linebackers -- Shawne Merriman and Shaun Phillips -- under long-term contracts. The Steelers saved $5 million by releasing Porter. He was slated to earn a $1 million roster bonus on Tuesday and $4 million in 2007 base pay.

FFIC, you are an integral part of this board.

If I knew how i'd give you one of those little ribbon things under your name

Thanks bro. I appreciate the kind words, and the thought of the ribbon. This is my second family, and I do what I can to help my brothers and sisters.:D

Definate posturing. Sounds like a little bandwagon jumping there on his part. SD, Balt? Surprised he didn't mention the Bears, Patriots and Indy too! Funny thing is, none of those teams really need his services (except the Pats) and I'm pretty sure none could afford him either. Trust me, when push comes to shove, he'll sign with whomever pays him the most money, regardless the team!
