He's got 14.5, 5 games left, the current record is 22.5 by Strahan..

He should of had feild days against raider and pats, both teams that allow a bunch of sacks...

If he wants this record he needs to pick up the slack, this 3-4 allows him to blitz almost every down and with way more chances than anyone on the team.
It looks like teams are figuring him out, or the rushes he likes to use..

So he needs about 2 per game, really neonly needs 8.5 sacks, so he can average like 1.8 or something per game...

I'm starting to think he wont get it, but how sweet if he earned that record in a Phin uniform, it would just add legacy to this years turnaround.

what do you think?

Depends vs. Rams, he should get a fair few, if not I think he might just come up short. But I have faith and would love to see him get the record..

We can't have Strahan keeping it for much longer....

Teams have been game planning against him, hence why he hasnt had a monster game in awhile. But 2 a game is do-able if he kicks it up a notch.

He faces the Rams, 49rs and Bills. All who give up sacks. Not sure about KC. He may fall just short bust still finish with astounding sack record.

Who cares at this point? It would've been one thing to call the fans out and actually show up. The problem here is he/the defense didn't and that's what really pisses me off.

Funny thing is that he plays against Favre in the last game.... It was Favre, a few years back that gave Strahan a gift sack to get the record. He probably wouldn't be so nice to Joey...

That was classless IMO of Favre to do that. Another oddity about that is (correct me if I'm wrong) but that sack allowed Strahan to pass Gastanoe (spelling) I believe..a New York Jet.

At this point, all of his focus should be on winning games, not attaining records. If he gets the record in the process....great. If we lose, it really dosent matter about records, pro-bowls, or any other kind of awards.

Honestly, i dont think he will. He's our only pass rush threat. Team's will gameplan just to stop him. But i do see him breaking the Dolphins record. That would be sweet

Yeah, but the more sacks joey gets, we have a higher percentage chance to win the game. If joey gets the record, we have a higher chance of winning as well.

So go porter, but more importantly go phins. Wooo!

He will not. He did well in the beginning because teams had written him off a bit. He is being taken out of the game now.

He won't but maybe he could if Brett the ***** Favre gave freebies like he did for Strahan, he could reach it in week 17.

first of all, Favre is a douche bag now and not trippin on vicodin so he won't give him a freebie.

secondly, He has been doubled or at least chipped nearly every play (which should help out the rest of the defense) and that renders him nearly useless because his biggest thing (IMO) is his initial burst and quick acceleration and first step at the snap. He often will beat a lineman off the ball and get past that way but when there is a back chipping, it slows him down and sometimes knocks him off balance. This chip is vital in slowing him down and JP is a OLB (not a D-lineman) and does not have a nonstop motor like a lot of good linemen do. They have to fight off blocks and often chase a QB that is 100+ lbs. lighter than themselves and a bit quicker. That is why you don't usually see interior linemen got lots of sacks. They usually get doubled.

I have great respect for interior linemen that get little to no respect because they often don't make the huge plays that the DE's do. They make their own (often unspoken) plays that are the water to concrete (without water. concrete is nothing but dust). I myself am a NT so I know by experience. Often if there is a run play up the middle, the NT is blamed even though he did his job and the player responsible for that gap fails to do his job (often the Mike linebacker)

But regardless, JP will not get it because he is being treated like a NT and is often getting doubled or chipped.
