ok guys, i hear a lot about how we dont have much talent on this team...can someone tell me why or how exactly? Do they mean big name players? physically talented? a mediocre rosteR? what is it?btw, what exactly do you see us doing this year in the draft? lets get some personal opinions on players that might be drafted in a specific round and then what we can do in FA.

I think the bigest thing we lack is depth. What if Traylor got hurt? What if we lose a corner? Would you be confortable with Sage if Gus went down? Saban has talked about our lack of depth so I know I am not alone in this. As to the draft I think most people would say o line and qb are the bigest needs. I think we do need to draft for both of those positions but on D I am very concerned about finding a replacement for Traylor. He may play next year but at this point you have to be concerned about his age.

With the quality/quanity of this years draft I think our first pick will probably go to the o line unless a good qb prospect falls to us. That being said I think Saban believes in drafting the best player avalible. Last year our o line was far worse than it is this year and we didnt draft an o line prospect untill the 5th round. I have to say personaly I am not that worried about who we draft where as long as it is a good value pick. With the teachers we have I think we can find player and develop them as opposed to needing to pick guys that are ready to start.

IMO, it's not fair to say what our biggest need will be at the end of the year. If Wright and Vickerson make good progress between now and draft day then DT is not much of an immediate need. Same with the O-line. If the line continues to get better and ends up proving that their problems had more to do with coaching/teaching than talent, then O-line isn't an immediate need either.

True, but does Wright or Vickerson have the ability/size to be a NT? As to the O line I have great faith in Huack but I think we will need to draft a tackle regardless. Especialy with the talent at that position in this draft.

Manny Wright is under Traylor's wing, though he may be too tall for the role. Vickerson... too light. Maybe if he beefs up. Plus we already have someone who is our main NT after "The Truck": Tim McGill (For once, let's thank the Jets.).

How much pt has McGill got and how has he done? I have only got to see part of one game :fire: I am mostly depending on artcles and stats.

Thanks! Hopfuly he can be devoloped into a replacement for Traylor. Without a really good NT I think the effectivness of our D would be greatly effected.

No problem. :)

Well said....I agree.

we will need a qb to groom, a dominant center, and two good cornerbacks cause madison{salary next year is too much} and howard are gone. so is feeley,jr seau will retire and also 1 more dt.

I don't know about Seau retiring. It is a possibility, yes. But hey go for one more year.

As for a DT, yeah why not? We could use a very Good DT to go after McGill. And if Tim Bowens come back next year (which he is going to try and do), then we could have 3-4 NT's.

Chester may get healthy next year but as far as this year Vickerson is on IR and Zgonina can play NT. And if injuries get to be too much we can go to a 4-3 with Carter playing inside and Bowens at LE. Josh Shaw could also be resigned if there was an emergency. I'm not worried at all with Saban and Mueller at the helm. They can find talent if needed.
