I LOVE FinHeaven
In the midst of all the negativity surrounding the Dolphins and on this board, I thought that I would share this recent story with you.
Last night there was a benefit in my town for an Army Staff Sgt. Daniel Barnes, he was injured over in Iraq and lost both of his legs when a RPG hit his Humvee. The benefit was hoping to raise money to help Sgt. Barnes with his medical bills, making his home handicap accessible, purchasing equipment and lessen the load on him, his wife and their two young children.
How does this relate to the Dolphins?
A local woman heard about the benefit and contacted one of her friends, who also happens to work closely with Dan Marino and told him the story. When Dan heard of Barnes sacrifice he chipped in without hesitation and donated some sports memorabilia, he also recruited current Dolphins star Jason Taylor who also donated some signed items. It didn't stop there, Dan also sent his representative Michael Marino (no relation) to the benefit to make a presentation to Barnes' children, giving both of them $50,000 checks to use for college. Needless to say, the benefit was a major success and it was nice to see that the community would go through so much trouble for just one man. The contributions from Dan, Jason and Michael Marino were very very generous and they do deserve credit for their caring and thoughtful actions.
I just thought that I would pass that along.
