I was not shocked with this pick. Mueller loves speed and felt we lacked it, cam loves Ginn and his whole family and also feels we need speed to stretch the field put chambers back to the slot, generally to run the offense he wants to implement. Our front office feel that Ginn is "special" time will tell if they are correct.

As for Beck, I really like his potential. I have read all the same things you guys have and again time will tell. The kicker with Beck/Quinn is in our current staff. Shea has been working with Quinn, if he believed Quinn was a franchise qb, the answer, a must have person, the man, then I have to believe he would communicate this up the chain of command and we would have taken him. If Mueller is so hard headed to ignore those around him with real insight into the qb position then he will fail and be out of the league again. I know this doesn't help us after the fact, we will still have to fix the mess, but it is what it is. I also have confidence in Cameron giving his 2 cents in any discussions about the qb position. If both our head coach and qb coach felt Quinn was far above Beck then I have to believe we would have taken him. Beck had to be rated very close if not above Quinn on our board. Time will tell. I MUST believe that Cam and Shea did not lobby for Quinn and get over ridden, so I will have a beer and see how day 2 unfolds and believe our front office has a plan, please let me be correct

I'm upset with Ginn at 9. Quinn or not, it was a stretch... WR have a big bust factor and Ginn as a WR is not polished at all. He has so much work to do and in the NFL his speed won't hide all of his flaws.

I totally agree! Nobody scouted Quinn more than the fins, so there must be a reason why they didn´t take him at Nr.9! Ginn (if healthy) will have a huge impact on the WRs, TEs and the running game, because opposing teams will have to cover Ginn with a CB and a S over the top (due to his speed)!!

i agree he is not a polished reciever and i'll be pissed if he's a bust or never recovers from his CURRENT injury. Mueller/Cam think he is a special player, gifted athlete, and a game breaker, lets hope they are correct

Don't know if any posted this or not but Sporting News says:
9 (9) Dolphins Ted Ginn Jr. * WR Ohio State
Coach Cam Cameron passed on QB Brady Quinn (smart move) to grab the most explosive offensive player in the draft. Ginn also is home-run hitter on punt and kickoff returns and will help the team win the battle of field position in EVERY game.

There is more, but I am not a Insider/payer.

Yah, I posted something like that yesterday..but since there was millions of threads gttin posted in a minue, it got flushed away..))

The 9th pick in the draft shouldn't need spin. I like Ginn because he improves our team greatly just by returning kicks, I don't like the Randall "thrill" Hill nature of his receiving abilities. But for fast impact, Ginn is a lot of bang for the buck.

Yeah, just i name for the thread, seems to be a lot of angst out there so i thought the word positive would was needed. Speed like Ginn possesses can not be taught, he is very elusive also, he's got skills and definately has alot of bang for the buck,,,when healthy

The angst comes from two front offices that have acted the way Cameron just did: "Trust us, we know what we are doing" And they both failed miserably while we "held out hope" that this time, thiis time, they "knew" what they were doing....Wanny is Pit, and they stink, and Saban (tricky Nicky) has taken his show to Alabama. Ted Ginn will make an impact in the first game, there is no doubt about that, we will have many many punts to return with our "D", if he averages 14+ yds per return (or more), he shortens the field for our offense and kickers.

oh, i know where the angst comes from, I am a FAN. I have watched our drafts and past front office moves with that wtf is going on look. Now I am a little older and use my calming breathing techniques, as well as beer, to keep these feelings under control, speaking of beer is 8:59 am too early on a sunday???

Also if I was not clear, I love Ginn's natural abilities and believe he can be a real threat every time he touches the ball. I am not dissing this pick, just discussing it

kind of hard to explain, but if wanny and speilman had done this i would definetly have a taste of throw-up in my mouth based on them doing really idiotic things. I do have confidence however, in Cam and Randy, and have a feeling we will look back on this weekend in december and smile.

Not many teams improved offense and DRASTICALLY improved special teams with their 1st rd pick. Ginn frees up chambers, ronnie, booker out of the backfield. We have too many weapons for a D to contain.
