steve slaton might get released by the texans. he would come cheap. but injuries would be a concern. and with the rumor that we only have 13 mil under the cap, we might have to go cheaper.
i dont think it would happen. im just throwing another name into the pot

Steve Slaton is a decent back as long as he doesn't have his fumbling issues and he has regained that initial burst he had in 2008. Would definitely be worth a look and I doubt he's trying to break the bank. Might want to watch Texans/Saints if you can find it, as he might play that game.

Really? after your runningbacks perform like they did tonight, this. Ridiculous!

I didn't read anywhere that the OP thought we needed to replace the top two guys, or that he was worried about them. Depth is depth, and unlike other positions on the team we don't have a stable full of guys who all bring a special talent. Beyond this we have guys who aren't that convincing in the slightest.

Slaton is one guy I would not mind the team taking a lot at. He certainly fell out of favor in Houston but before that he was one of the hottest running backs in the league. It certainly would not hurt to have someone who has genuine experience carrying the rock if there are guys missing time.

Steve Slaton the runningback who is currently side lined with a leg injury. Fins look settled at RB with Bush, Thomas & Hilliard. I saw quick burst, good vision and hard running from all three.

The Texans are loaded at RB with Arian Foster, Tate and Slaton. They also have a good RB named Chris Ogbonnaya who played with the Longhorns in college. Slaton would be a nice pickup, but if they decide to part with Ogbonnaya, I would take him over Korey Sheets. We are solid at RB.

I would like to have seen Miami have Ronnie Brown as the 2nd back behind Bush and bring in Thomas for 6-8 carries a game. The goal line stand by Carolina made me miss Ronnie so much more. Ronnie is money there.
I kinda like Hilliard, but there are a ton of RB's out there with talent and they are better I believe than Sheets and Grigsby. I hate making negative comments about our players, but I think the 3rd RB spot can be upgraded.

I would rather have Clinton Portis. Little older but I would rather have an older guy as a back-up like Portis

If anything, Thomas fumbling at the goaline should have reminded you of Ronnie. And relax, that was his first real chance running the ball after last week's get hit behind the line festival. It took Ronnie 3 weeks to have any sort of decent run in the NFL, and Thomas had a lot of nice ones last nice.
