Ok with Porter presumably down and not reliable for a season, I would imagine that Tuna and Co. will pick up an OLB after the cuts or trade a low round pick for one.

It just so happens the Cowboys have 11 LB’s on the roster, Justin Rogers or Tearrius George both are cut possibilities. I also see the Texans cutting a LB or two with nine on the roster. The Bills, Ravens, Stealers and Bears may all also get rid of some younger LB’s. Whether any of the Line Backers cut will fit the outside of the 3-4 scheme and prove a viable replacement to Porter will remain to be seen but I think the waver wire will prove to be adequate to find a solid OLB for this year. With a little luck maybe we find a solid replacement and cut Porter loose once and for all.

We won't really be able to cut Porter loose because that would kill our cap. He signed that huge deal last year, so the only way we're getting rid of him is if he retires. I'm wondering if we would try to get Bobby Carpenter from the Boys for a low round pick. I'm also wondering if he would be playing outside or inside linebacker.

We may not cut porter but we might put him on IR for the season. Carpenter may be a good choice for us. I think he could be available for a low round pick and it help the cowboys salary cap situation along with the log jam at LB, Bobby would probably play both inside and outside and be a solid backup. He also plays well on special Teams...this would be a good pick up for us.

I think we keep porter for two more seasons then cut him loose. I am positive we will go after T-suggs next season and draft an OLB.

Ya the cut him [Porter] loose statement was a figure of speech. The Stealers took the Phins to the bank, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Carpenter would be a great pick up regardless of inside or out. He is a solid player but I am not sure the Boy’s will part ways with him just yet. He adds too much to the team, if for some reason Dallas decides to move him, hell ya bring him in.

The Steelers had nothing to do with it. Porter was a free agent. It's not like the Steelers were trying to shop him and hooked us into giving them a pick....

The Steelers could care less how Porter does in Miami. They were done with him and they let him go. End of story. They didn't get anything from the fins, so they didn't really 'take the fins to the bank.'

Well it isn't like they were exactly honest either. The whole thing reminded me of a Carfax commercial.

“Up for signing one Outside Linebacker with nagging back injuries………oops delete…………”Up for signing one outside linebacker, this guys a back breaker!”

You guys just want recognizable names.

I would keep an eye out on Antwan Applewhite, who will probably be released by the Chargers.

The Steeler's had nothing to do with us signing Porter :shakeno:...he was a free agent, they had no say-so or control or benefits in us going after Porter.

Call me crazy, but I think Quentin Moses or Ninkovich can fill the weakside OLB spot with very solid production. I'm not worried about the Porter injury.

Yes I am fully aware of this point but it still reminds me of a carfax commercial.

The bottom line is the Stealers knew he was farther along in decline then what was showing and let the highest bidder take him off without even trying to offer a new contract to Joey.

Miami had nothing to do with signing Porter either, they just had the highest offer.

I would love for Moses or Ninkovich to pan out, but it seems like they are just shy of being serviceable. I'm hoping it's the position change or scheme change, but the light needs to come on now for one or both of them.
I am worried about the Porter injury...when I guy starts worrying about his career openly to the media, it's serious.
