Found this in an article in the PB Post http://www.palmbeachpost.com/dolphins/content/sports/epaper/2007/04/18/a1c_fins_0418.html

The article itself is about Culpepper and Miami going for Green, but one paragraph caught my eye..

"The Detroit Lions were never serious contenders for Green, a source said, and Cleveland Browns General Manager Phil Savage said last week it is unlikely his team would trade for Green, according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer."

If this is true, granted the smokescreens these GMs are throwing out there these days are rather thick, it could mean that they'd go with someone other than Quinn (hopefully AP). I can't imagine Cleveland drafting a first round QB without having a veteran presence there to mentor the new guy (which has been one of Frye's biggest problems this past season)

What do you guys think, any more or less hope for Quinn?

Peterson , the Chiefs GM, is doing the right thing for his team. Since we completely passed / whiffed on Carr and Daunte's being... Daunte, he knows we are desperate for a QB and he's ratcheting up the rhetoric to squeeze a higher draft pick out of us. He's using Rosenhaus logic insisting they be compensated for a "starting QB" even thiough he'll be 37 and he's not the starter anymore since they've knighted Huard. (with Croyle in the wings) It's unfortunate for us because Mueller might cave in and it's totally unnecessary because they will cut Green before June 1st before they pay him 7 million for next year. We just have to be patient. Besides, CPEP says he'll play when he's "ready". How much more assurance do you need?

Forget about Quinn he already has a Browns uniform.

Fear not, Mueller isn't Wannstedt/Spielman, he knows a 37 year old past his prime QB is not worth what we got for a young Welker.

My thoughts exactly. yesterday the Browns signed fullback Alan Ricard who was Jamal Lewis's lead blocker in Baltimore. This makes me think that they are happy with Lewis and do not need Peterson. So yes I think the Browns will nab Quinn and I tell you what, that will make a lot of people in this town very upset.

Wrong! If the Browns pass on Adrian Peterson they might as well start looking for a new coaching staff and possibly a new front office. The on field performance and talant evaluation hasn't been up to par and Crennel and Savage are definitely on the hot seat. For that reason and the fact that Peterson is the best athlete in the draft they will not draft Quinn. But hey, anything is possible I guess, however drafting Quinn is a death sentence for the brown's brass because he isn't ready to carry a team on his own....yet. Peterson wins you games NOW. It should be a no brainer for them.

Have faith Quinn will be a fin!

I'd rather go into the season with Lemon and a question C-PEP then give that fantasy land Peterson what he's looking for.

Not to mention Savage is a Russell fan if Raiders dont take him and AL Davis is a Johnson fan.

Exactly, CPEP spelled everything out very clearly for us, everyone is freaking out here about a qb, i don't know why. If thats not a sure thing, i dont know what is.

How exactly does signing a full back mean anything about how happy a team is about another player

This is the same Carl Peterson who only wanted to surrender a 3rd for Surtain bur ended up caving himself and sending a 2nd as the phins wanted, right?

Saban may have caved but I think Mueller has a spine.

As far as Peterson wanting Welker like compensation for Green, :sidelol:

Wes is a dozen years (or so) years younger and has not suffered a concussion. I can't help but think Carl isn't the shiniest penny in the fountain.

I must totally agree. Don't budge on what we want to give for Green. Regardless of whether or not we get Green, we're gonna draft a QB. If it's Quinn, Stanton, Kolb or whoever, they're not gonna start this season. Since getting Green doesn't change our draft plans, or dictate if a rookie starts, I'd say stick to what we want to give for him, or just wait till he's cut.
