My first thought is I wonder how many people are in a near death state from drinking 4 hours longer than they planned, but on to the game...
Some positives...
We Won!!!!!!
The O-line: They were solid all game, Ryan is going to have the best pass pro hes ever had in the NFL if these 5 guys stay healthy.
Jakeem Grant: Not just the kick return, but he was also very involved in the offense and imo that should have been the case prior to the end of last season.
Stills: Another big play!
Gore and Drake: Titans were pretty stout vs the run last year and these two guys made plays. With them and the OL we are going to have a good running game.
Tannehill: he made some plays, had a good control of the offense, and for the most part was on target all day long.
Jones: 2 picks, and a good return on one. Both of his picks were terrible throws that went right to him, but the 2nd one was still impressive as he was falling down and off balance. I've given Jones some crap over the last few seasons because hes puss poor as a cover guy but he makes plays if you put him in the right situations.
Fitzpatrick: Other than the one missed tackle he was lights out... hes going to be one of our best players before long.
Negatives...
The delays: I understand the need for them but making it the longest game in NFL history with That weather was just weird and made no sense. You cant tell me that was the longest or worst storm system during a game in nfl history, so basically wtf???
Mcdonald: My God he was awful. Missed tackles, bad angles, he never has good coverage.
The st's breakdown: We just cant let that happen.
Mcmillian: Unless I missed something, he just didnt do much out there which is disappointing. We need more from him, but we didnt see it in preseason, and we didnt see it in week one.
Tannehill: I know, I know... hes on both positive and negative but as good as I think he was at times(and it was really good) he also left some plays on the field. I dont mind the first int so much because I thought Gesicki did a piss poor job with just about everything on that play, but the 2nd int was just as bad as it gets.
Pass rush: where was it? Seems like the same story every year. I will cut them a little slack though because the Titans were for the most part getting the ball out quick.
Coaching: I thought the playcalling was pretty good, but what they're doing on defense with the safeties just makes no sense at all to me. I've heard all offseason that Minkah will be moved around playing safety, slot cb, blitzing, etc. But all he did was play in the slot, and while he was great at it why oh why didnt we see him some at FS especially in big sets when there was only 2 cb's, and 2 S's on the field? The deep middle of the field is going to be open all game every game if we keep trotting out two SS's. These are the same two guys that couldn't get it done last year, so what makes the coaches think it will be any different?
Overall...
It was an ugly game, but...The Phins are going to be much better than most people thought(but we already knew that). The OL is the best its been in a long time, the running game is legit, Tannehill is a big upgrade over Cutler, and the defense will benefit from a better offense. There is a lot to clean up, and/or change. I'm a little worried about the wr's because while they all can make plays they also dont get a lot of separation with their routes, and other than Parker we dont have guys that can win the fight in the air. I'm also worried about defending the deep middle of the field, but for those that predicted us to be the worst team in the league... we proved that wrong awfully quick.
