Post practice

I just saw Saban's post practice interview and i heard him say that regardless of what everyone thinks the are no for sure starters. The best player will play so Joey might actually be the starter,

Wow......just, wow.....

While "technically", your commment could be accurate, common sense has to interject at some point in your thought process, doesn't it?

The only way JH starts, is if DC is flat out not ready physically. I think you're taking that comment too literally (and maybe that's what Saban intended to happen if he said it).

The only way that happens is if Pep can't go. There are some guys that are definitely going to be backups this year, Joey is one. Sammy Morris is another. Don't take Saban too literally when he says stuff like that. There are definitely some "open" spots on the roster but every position is definitely not up for grabs.

im with everyone else on this, pep will start unless he is physically unable.

Year's ago I went to a dolphin game in the early day's of marino. After simply watching Strock and Marino warm up there was no doubt who should be the starter.I imagine it is the same way now. When you ever see Culpepper in person and playing you might understand.I am quite sure at practice it is obvious. Not trying to take anything from Joey I do hope he revive's his career here.

Why are you questioning the starting QB, when the whole team knows who's the starting QB, find one interview that shows players don't think DC is not the starting QB if healthy.

As might Cleo Lemon.
While anything is technically possible, the chance of either Harrington or Lemon beating out a healthy Culpepper is at best remote.

Saban has made this statement before and IMO I feel he means it. I dont think he gets star struck, if you cross him or fail to play well I think he will make a move.

Whats wrong with playing whoever gives us the best chance to win? We want to win, that's the whole point. Start Brock Berlin is its the best thing for us.

All we want is wins baby

What SABAN says is true ...

At the start of every year - you must come in and prove that you still deserve the position. There is NOTHING 'owed' to anyone in professional sports - or life for that matter ... so if someone shows up and is good enough to put you on the bench - then so be it !!

Too many folks get sentimental with players and names -- this is a business and the goal of the business is to win .... in the same breath there is 'LOYALTY' involved to a point ... but there are only a few select folks who fall into that category ... like established veterans such as a TAYLOR or THOMAS ... CULPEPPER hasn't earned anything here yet - so we can't add him to the list ...

You might reach and add CHAMBERS, CARTER and / or HOLLIDAY to the list for their contributions ... but they aren't automatic picks ...

Dumbest thread of the year, no way anyone but DC starts unless DC physically can't go. Plain and simple.
