Dolphins center Mike Pouncey will have his left hip examined next week with hopes of being cleared to join his teammates for the start of training camp July 27, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. But the Dolphins won’t make a decision on whether to place Pouncey on the physically unable to perform list until after the exam.

Pouncey has not practiced since last November, playing only five games last season.

he's one of the best centers in the league when healthy

I'm not counting on him. If he plays it will just be a pleasant surprise. But even then, "for how long?", will be a lingering question and will it just disrupt continuity b/w the other capable o-lineman if he is in and out of the lineup.

How would you react to having him as a gift on your roster?? You clearly think you know so much abou football, and I think you do.

Would you cut him ??

This is probably his last year here, cutting him frees up $7.5 mil next season

If it ultimately was up to me, I would have never signed him to such a lucrative 5 year contract in '15 that tied us at the hip [chuckles] and forced us to keep him for mutiple years despite him missing 4 games that season for what was known to be a possible degenerative issue.

I'm not reading that article ... because the thought of him spending yet another year mostly out of the lineup is simply too scary. Please let me know when he gets the medical OK. Until then I'm going to turn a blind eye, cross my fingers and hope he gets healthy.

That wasn't the current FO.

You asked me what I would do and in turn used the term "ultimately" to preface my opinion.

If you want to rephrase the question and ask what I would do if I was in Gase's position it would of course garner a different answer. And that would be, I would have drafted or signed a center in the past two years upon my arrival.

There was no way we were letting him become a FA even with that bad hip. We knew we had to overpay to keep him hence we rolled the dice. He was the lone star on a Oline that sucked for years.......we really had no choice.

I think as fans we need to step back a bit. Whether it's depth on the o line, d line, I'm just glad we're nitpicking. Seems like they know what they're doing.

At the very least , we have a FO we can hold accountable. And as a Miami fan, I haven't felt that since I gave parcels the keys. ross is quiet, we gotta coach.
Let's give me the benefit of the doubt.

There's always a choice and with every choice there are consequences. Currently we are seeing the repercussions of a bad one.

e over but

We overpaid for him and a year early coming off a less than stellar year but somehow make Landry wait and he has had none of the injury issues and has produced
