If I am the Dolphins, I play it safe and save him for the Green Bay game. Even if he is ready to go week 4 against Oakland, wait until Green Bay and get the extra two weeks with the bye.
Even without him we can still start the season 4-0. It won't be easy, but it can be done.
I think the first 3 games will play a role. If Satele gets abused and we can't run the ball…if he's ready you bring him back. If we are doing well without him, let him get up to speed with the bye.If I am the Dolphins, I play it safe and save him for the Green Bay game. “I’m just praying that they don’t put me on PUP,” Pouncey said after practice Monday. “I’ve been thinking I’m ahead of schedule, I feel really good. I just can’t wait until they really just let me loose.”
Pouncey, however, didn’t sound 100 percent confident when asked if he’d be ready to play by the Sept. 7 opener against New England.
“I don’t know, we’ll see,” he said.
The Dolphins are using veteran center Samson Satele to start for Pouncey right now. It was originally thought Pouncey might not be ready to play until midseason, which is why the PUP designation makes sense. But Pouncey thinks he'll be ready before the six-week PUP requirement.
Even with that optimism, Pouncey isn't sure when he’d be cleared to practice. Right now he does rehabilitation work while his teammates practice.
“I think it’s up to coach and the team doctors when I’ll be ready to practice,” Pouncey said. “In my head right now I feel like I can just because I’m a competitor, but they’re just taking the safety route and making sure that it’s all the way healed up and that I won’t have any relapses once I come back.
“I appreciate them just letting me get stronger and stronger each week, but whenever it’s time to go, I’m going to be ready to go.”

"You only play in London one time so hopefully I'll be back by then," Pouncey said Monday.
The Dolphins play in London against the Oakland Raiders on Sept. 28. It is the fourth game of the season. That's the game Pouncey is hoping will be his first in 2014.
That is hopeful but not certain. The Dolphins are still seriously considering putting Pouncey on regular-season PUP which would mean he'll miss six weeks before he can even begin to practice. Pouncey would much prefer being on the active roster and getting on the practice field much before then.
"I don't want to go on PUP because that means you have to miss six weeks and that puts me back further than when I'm expecting to be back so hopefully I won't be on PUP and can start out practicing as soon as possible and get ready to be in game shape," Pouncey said.
That's as good as it gets for the news coming out of the Dolphins offensive line today. The bad news. Joe Philbin announced today the Dolphins do not have a starting right guard. No, seriously.

Such a move would mean Pouncey, who is recovering from June knee surgery, would have to miss the first six weeks. “I’m just praying that they don’t put me on PUP,” Pouncey said after practice Monday. “I’ve been thinking I’m ahead of schedule, I feel really good.
