Here they are, the Power Rankings for week 14. Enjoy :D

The Drum Roll:
Almost forgot to post this week. ALMOST  .Thats what looking forward to off days will do to you.

Well, it was fun while it lasted. At least we all got to talk about possible playoff scenarios instead of draft picks the last 4 weeks. I still think this team is showing some good potential. I really hope they can get the missing pieces they need and end our 5 year post season drought, 20+ year AFC champion drought and our 30+ year Super Bowl drought.

Well at least the rumors of Saban to Miami are starting to die off. I had told the guys here in "bama that if Saban went to 'bama. I would show up to a Home game wearing a phins Jersey. Glad that stayed a joke. LOL.

Later and GO FINS!!!!!
:D

Comment: Well, so much for running the table. The Dolphins can still cause some problems down the stretch, but the playoffs aren't part of the picture anymore.

Comment: The streak is over, and so, too, are their playoff chances. The preseason hype was way too much for this group.

Comment: Miami -- Miami's four-game winning streak came to an end Sunday as the Jaguars ran and passed all over them en route to a 24-10 victory in Miami. Kicker Olindo Mare drew boos after missing a 42-yard field goal attempt wide right. Mare, a longtime fixture in Miami, has now missed ten field goals this season—a career high for a season. The loss puts the Dolphins at 5-7, and likely outside the AFC playoff picture. The 'Phins haven't made the postseason in five years.

Notice the neatness of my rankings, the regimentally correct way in which I keep them all in their proper group, the 6-6s, the 5-7s, all marching together, like a military drill team. I don't know why I haven't done this all along. Looks nice, doesn't it? "What's this got to do with the Dolphins?" someone asks from nearby. Everything. A sense of belonging is what these teams crave.

Comment: Making the playoffs is a huge long shot, but the Dolphins can still have a big effect on the postseason with games remaining against the Patriots, Jets, and Colts

Fortunately, games against the Jaguars don't count, so the Dolphins are doing just fine. You just can't tell what a loss to Jacksonville means. On one given week, it could mean you played the best team in NFL history. On another given week, it could mean that you lost to a bottom-dwelling CFL team. I am, however, looking forward to the quarterback position battle during Dolphins training camp next summer.

Comment: Miami isn't yet dead in the playoff race in the AFC, but after games against New England and at Buffalo these next two weeks, the Dolphins should be.

Comment: The Dolphins' string of four consecutive wins snapped in Jacksonville Sunday, knocking out the long shot hopes of Miami playoffs.

Comment: The Dolphins won't be running the table to finish the year, and that comes as a result of the running game -- without Ronnie Brown -- only mustering 68 yards against Jacksonville.
Key Injuries: LG Jeno James (knee), RB Ronnie Brown (hand).

What really shouldnt matter? The power rankings? You have got to read beyond that if you are going to read this at all. What Sirdrums has supplied is some serious input, and he worked hard on it. Please dont discount this thread just because you are distraught about the season

Sir Drums, as always, your work is outstanding. Please keep it up.

I completely agree with this one. I think this is where we belong right now. yea, the defense showed signs of being great, but I think some of the rankings in the last few weeks were getting a bit high. The offense is inconsistent and the defense all but fell apart when Taylor left last week. ONE MAN leaves and we give up 14 points? we get a touchdown, then can't manage any more points until we're desperate at the end of the game?

It was great to dream and believe in making the playoffs. I was excited about the games. In the end though, it's a 5-7 team, and that's probably not much lower than it ought to be.

The team is headed in the right direction, but it isn't complete. there's still pieces to be filled before we can say that they should be in the playoffs.

but hey, there's 4 games left and I'm still going to be cheering for every minute of them. the other day one of my friends said "so what if they made the playoffs, they would have lost right away anyways." you know what, that's probably true, but it would still be great to see them there again. even if they got beat 30-3 in the first round, it would still be a playoff appearance, and the first one in 5 years. I would still take it.

amazing how we get +1 or 0 for winning a game and then we lose one to a good team and lose 5 thats bull****

Who cares really?

Power rankings are so political. Thankfully we have a playoff system to determine the eventual winner. The fact is a losing record team COULD be the best team in the league by week 17. They won't go to the playoffs, they're not going to be Super Bowl champs, but they could be the best team. Yes, I think our Phins are better than lower half of the league right now. That probably won't get them into the post season though. Even more rediculous is when they rank the teams on the basis of qualifying for the playoffs. 12 teams make it and are automaticly slotted 1-12. Clearly in some years the difference between the conferences is so huge that the last two teams in the rankings are worse than several teams that don't make it, but they rank them 1-12 anyway. IF (big if) we go 9-7 I promise you we will be a better team at the end of fhe season that some teams that get a bid. We'll just have to sustain it until next year.

Most of the time, the best 12 teams are the ones who make the playoffs. There is a whole complex system in place to determine that so Its only natural that the top 12 slots in PR's are those teams. Sure you could argue about which conference is stronger etc. But its usually pretty close.

Thanks for all the compliments. Its what keeps me doing these, especially when we are out of playoff contention. :p
