I wonder how Clubber Laing is coming along? With the nightmare our DE's have been, he may be interesting on the 53. That is, if he's showing ability.

Hendy looked nice in preseason. Honestly, so did Shamiel Gary who is gone. I'd be interested in looking at the range of Hendy and whether he can help in the deep middle. That's a weakness.

In preseason, number 40 caught my eye. He was aggressive, had energy, and was tight in coverage. I looked him up and he was Lafayette Pitts. I don't believe the broadcasters pointed him out as they were mindlessly rambling on, so it was easy to miss him.

I actually don't mind Rashawn Scott as a last receiver type. No room for him now, but he may be capable of moving up next year.

But this year, with three injuries or more purging, I'd be intrigued to see Laing, Pitts, and Hendy.

I also liked Pitts, if our corners can't show improvement this game, I wouldn't be opposed to moving Pitts up into the 53 and giving him a shot.

That list surprised me. I didn't know we had Terry Poole and Jake Brendel. Two very different players but I'm familiar with them since I follow West Coast college football closely.

Poole is a road grader type. Right tackle. Straight ahead clumsy power. That's what San Diego State utilizes now under Rocky Long. They are quietly the most basic and physical offense in the nation, running more than 45 times per game out of power looks and faring well enough to be ranked in the Top 20 a couple weeks ago. Heck, I prefer that style to some of the movement system fit garbage we pursued for so long. Poole is a pass blocking liability and may not grow into his body but if so you could have something. I remember the Seahawks drafted him higher than most analysts thought he would go, and obviously Seattle prioritizes athletic ability and metrics.

Brendel seemed like he was at UCLA forever. To tell you the truth, I didn't know he was gone. I assumed he would be a lifer. I would summarize him as kind of a Samson Satele type...more smart and technique oriented than physical. He kind of got lost on a very talented Bruin roster the past few years but on the UCLA coach's show on Pac 12 network Jim Mora would praise Brendel all the time, emphasizing what a leader he was.

Cut one of Branch or Jason Jones, and give Lang a shot. He literally can't be any worse.

I liked Brendel when he was with the Cowboys this TC/PS. Think having Frederick and a versatile backup OG/C sealed Brendels fate there.

We have zero offensive linemen on our practice squad. Is that a league trend? If so, where the F are we gonna get guys to replace Turner, Thomas and Jamil Douglas?

Woah: My bad. I was expecting to see 'OL' and missed the 'T' and 'C' designations. LoL @ me.

Lol Jason Jones is playing better than Olivier Vernon can you imagine the backlash if he was on this roster right now.

Yeah, I looked up Vernon's stats yesterday and he's playing similar to Williams here. Which obviously isn't well. The Giants are getting absolutely NOTHING from their defensive ends and LB's in terms of pass rush. I think 1 sack between LBs and DEs in the first 5 games.
