Hickey signed Grimes to a good deal, which was kinda expected. He apparently is going with Albert, which is questioned by some but, also somewhat expected. He signed Delmas in place of Clemons or the Big Splash in Byrd. Debatable but OK

As for the speculation on others, we have seen Austin Howard, Earl Mitchell, and Ty Jackson. IF true, will know in a few hours, these are not quite what I was expecting. IN NO WAY am I taking a shot at Hickey, as it is WAY too early but, I am surprised at the names I am hearing of interest.

Anyone else thinking the same?

Bargain hunting and building through the draft is smart IMO. We'll see what the results bring but relying on free agency to be the backbone of your roster is proven time and time again to fail.

We'll see what happens. I think this year will be much like last year, in that we know in advance who our biggest name signing is going to be, and then we get a surprise curveball. Just seems to be how the team rolls these days.

I don't think signing just Albert will cut it. If we don't sign at least one other starter-quality lineman, we're going to be in a quandary.

Im watching the CB market. I could see us grabbing one come this time tomorrow.

I have a feeling Coyle wants one of his guys.

I agree that the Grimes was a no brainer as well as Albert being expected as well..
He would have opened my eyes with signing Monroe but that's neither here or there at this point.

But let's let it play out and see what the numbers on these contracts are before we grade him. I havent heard too much on these D-lineman we're showing interest in but whatever it is I'm hoping it gears up to us drafting a playmaker at 19...I'm not sold on Delmas, and don't understand any, if at all hype he has gotten. (my buddies are high on him---I think he's just an average Clemons-type..maybe marginal upgrade at that)

Fun time of the year for sure though.

I am looking for good decisions not individual players. Here's my current evaluation of the decisions that have been made.

1. Resign Grimes for a reasonable price with 2 years guaranteed. - Excellent decision
2. Release Patterson for cap and injury - Good decision
3. Do not overpay for Soliai - maybe a good decision
4. Do not overpay for Starks - not a bad decision
5. Take a calculated risk with Delmas to upgrade safety - good decision
6. Do not overpay to resign Clemons - very good decision
7. Albert for reasonable price - good decision

I am pleased with his decisions to this point.

Agreed but, no way in hell can we fill our needs in the draft, and this is not the year to bargain hunt with the current cap situation. We really need 2-3 other good guys on the OL, and 2 at DT. FA has a ways to play out, and we shall see if the speculation is what Hickey is looking for.

I'm hoping for better, which still may come.

good or bad surprised?

So far, on the bad side.

Almost everybody on this board could have made the same moves Hickey has made up to now including Albert. I don't see anything earth shattering here. Talk at me after the #19th pick then we'll see...otherwise so far its been a no brainer.

This should be interesting. With Patterson and Carroll gone, we do need someone. Do we believe in Taylor or spend Big on a FA?

Pre FA i think he has done a good job. Lets see what he can reel in threw FA and then lest see what he does in the draft.
If he can do this in FA:
at lest 2 starters on OL 3 would be nice.
1 starter on DT.
1 starter on CB
i would be happy.

you really think Miami will give out names to who they want, before FA signing starts? unless they have all but a player signed, aka albert.
