I am a long time Dolphins fan from Northern CA. I follow the local teams, and based on what I have heard about 49ers this year, I think the 49ers will try to open up their passing game vs the fins. Main reasons are Mike Martz as OC and Frank Gore's injury.

1) Mike Martz: He is a pass happy OC and has employed more passing plays with his previous QB (O Sullivan or someone i don't remember his name). He tries to spread the field giving less protection to his QB and expects his QB to make a quick read and throw deep ball if possible. However, this cost the QB his job, and also got his team into trouble also costing Mike Nolan his job. There was friction between Singletary and Mike Martz about the passing plays, and rumors are that Singletary wanted to use Gore more often than rely mostly on pass plays. Singletary is more conservative, and Martz is quite the opposite. I remember one play in Cardinals vs 49ers game. The 49ers needed were 4th and few inches around the 30 yd line. Martz was yelling at Singletary to go for it. Singletary instead went for the FG.

2) Gore: With Frank Gore injured, Mike Martz may be looking for an excuse to go back to the trigger happy days and try more pass plays.

I think this bodes well for the Dolphins (if they pressure the QB). I am sure we can get some turnovers and I hope Porter gets atleast couple of sacks.

Go Phins..

I pretty much agree. They are playing very agressive right now. They tried onside with the opening kickoff against the jets and also went for it on multiple 4th downs. I expect them to take a lot of chances and a lot of shots down field.

Them passing i think will make them lose. Our secondary has been doing good recently. I was worried about this game, but now im not. I dont think we are going to lose another game in the regular season. I really don't. I think we are going to turn it on and start beating teams by double digits. Call me crazy, but I think Sparano isn't going to let this team slip.

I believe it's supposed to rain on Sunday so that might affect their pass-happiness.

Edit: Only a 10 % chance of rain, but we'll see...

Haha, I see what you're saying but your team is also tied atop the league in allowing sacks. I think if we can get in Hill's face this game will go our way. Everyone knows we have Joey Porter but we also have some good change of pace rushers Matt Roth (3 sacks), Vonnie Holliday (4 sacks), and Starks, Anderson, and Langford (all have 2 sacks on the season). The Phins are also +12 in turnover margin while the 49ers are -14 in that category.

I expect this to be a hard fought game nonetheless with the Niners playing with a renewed passion for Mike Singletary. We will see how it plays out Sunday though.

Have you seen how well our O-line has been playing with Hill behind them as opposed to earlier in the season with JTO? It's not the same O-line and qb that was sacked over 30 times in less than 8 games. We've only been sacked, what, 14 times since then? Not the greatest pass blocking, but not nearly as bad as before either. (New starters Chilo Rachal and Adam Snyder on the right side of the line. Joe Staley has also gotten much better at pass blocking against the speed rush which he struggled on earlier in the year while adjusting to the LT position.)

That may be the case, but again, the guy responsible for 20 of our turn overs (11 INTs and 9 fumbles I think), is no longer playing. He also happens to be the guy who killed us in the 4th quarter, making us lose games by throwing INTs and giving away the lead. JTO is his name. (Just TurnOvers is what we called him).

I don't think this is going to be an easy game...they never seem to be for us...we need pressure on their QB...if we can hurry him then we should be a lot better....on offence we need to run the football and then spread the ball around with the play action....one way or the other we gotta have this game.

Ozzy rules!!

Ummmm this is definately the NFL last time i checked, and if i remember correctly nothing comes easy in this league no?

H*ll yeah! I like that!

It will be much harder for our front seven to get pressure on Hill this week. Since taking over as starting QB for the 49ers hes only taken 13 sacks in his six starts. Hill is much bettter than O'Sullivan and has been throwing for 225 Yards per game and has 10 TDs and only 4 INTs in his six starts.

I also think the 49ers will look to spread it out and take a page from the Patriots playbook. If our front seven can't generate pressure on Hill he CAN pick our secondary apart. This is a much differeny 49ers team from the one that lost 7 of their first 9 games.

This game will be an excellent indicator as to our teams toughness and playoff potential. The 49ers are playing hard, smart, and much better of late. Mike Singeltary has this team focued and these Niners would love nothing more than to come to Miami and put a damper on our playoff hopes. Lets hope Sparano can get our guys focused and pull out a game we should win at home.

GO PHINS!

This is the second time in just 3 weeks the 9ers have had to travel across the country. That's not easy. It is an advantage for the Fins. I do expect Porter to have a good game, and in this case I think Miami just has the better team. Fins win 24-13.
