Is it me or does it seem like the new regime is treating this entire season like one long pre-season.. it seems like every day some one is released and someone new is brought in.. not sure if thats good or bad.. just noticing the recent trend.. whats your overall impression of this teambuilding method?

We aren't releasing major players. A fullback, a third tight end, nothing serious.

I don't think so, injuries happen. As for the release of Grigsby and Ryan Ireland and Sparano both have made it clear they will continue to turn over the bottom of the roster trying to upgrade the talent level there.

we have 20 preseason games this year...we have played 5 already

These things are no surprise. You have to remember what Sparano said before. "we're out of the hurting peoples feelings business now" and "we're going to keep flipping over rocks and the bottom of the roster will continue to evolve"

I know this will make people mad but I think this season is really a trial and error season. Sparano, Ireland and Parcells know that we're not going to the Superbowl so I think this season is going to be used to evaluate what we have and get the necessary experience with the good parts we do have in place. Then in the upcoming off season we will know pieces will be needed to fill in the gaps and be a much better team in 2009.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

Maybe this is TRULY the way to rebuild a team. You have never felt like this before in the past have you? Times have changed, for the better

The front office made it very clear that they would continue to churn the bottom of the roster. The bottom of our roster was weak, and every team out there with injuries better think long and hard about releasing talented players that are projects. The front office is going to be opportunistic. I believed them when they said it!! Do not be surprised if we hit the waiver wire all season long. I wonder who the 53rd best player is on the roster. That guy better maximize every single second of opportunity. He needs to scratch and claw to become the 52nd best player, and he needs to do it yesterday.

I really like the approach this guys are taking with regards to signing people who make us better, releasing those that don't, and working the players in different positions to see what works. For some reason, I see this team making a run similar to that during Saban's first year. The scary part is that I think this team is a bit further ahead of that team. The main difference was that team was able to beat the Broncos on opening day and take advantage of the heat, and this team lost to one of the greatest QBs to play the game and a fluke TD was the difference in the game. This team looks like they will be in a lot of ballgames, so let's hope some of those close games go our way this year.
