I could not find a list so I made one. I left out all the RBs who had poor showings this preaseason.I included many of the vets regardless of how they did. If any of you guys have any info on any of these guys or others that I might have missed please post! I know preseason stats dont mean all that much but they do give us a way to gage some of the newer players.

notable: DeDe Dorsey had the best YPC@7.5 followed by Artose Pinner@ 5.2 and Fred Russell@ 5.1.

I included chris brown even though he was not cut.

May the best man wear Aqua and orange!
hopefully this is an ok first post

Fred Russell the RB from St Louis was a good looking player in Miami's last game. I also like the guy from the Bengals
DeDe Dorsey but I have never seen him play... Maybe I will watch these two on the NFL Network replay of games... :)

One could also consider these as well, Jamaal Branch and Najeh Davenport... Decisions, decisions... :)

By the way nice work!

Hey I found out some info on what the Benagl fans think of DeDe Dorsey.
THEY LOVE HIM!!!

Here are some posts from a Bengal message board:

If it is possible to play your way onto an NFL team in the pre-season then he (DeDe Dorsey) has done it.

Ive watched every pre-season game and even though he may have been going against back-ups he has played harder and out performed every other back on the team, including Rudi.

I like both Wilson and Watson, but I have not seen either the fire or the ability that Dorsey has shown.

----

This guy has looked awesome in the preseason! I really don't see anyway the Bengals could cut this kid. I would find it
almost impossible to believe that their aren't multiple teams just waiting for him to hit the waiver wire so they can
pounce. He's flashed an amazing amount of ability. The kid has shown good vision, good balance, and amazing
acceleration through the hole. He sees his hole, is decisive and hits it hard and fast. I really think they should
let the kid have at least a few cracks at the 1st team next game before they even consider trying to sneak
him thru the waiver wire.

---

DeDe will not make the practice squad. To go on the practice squad you have to clear waivers.

He is not far enough under the radar for that. He's 4th in rushing yards I think. He's averaging 7.5 ypc.
Everyone else on the team is under 3 ypc He will never clear waivers. I would hate to see Pittsburgh
pick him up.

a note: just read this article that explains why dede dorsey did not play the last preseason game: I wonder how bad he is hurt. I trust that saban will do tons of research and find the best back to fill our needs!

Rookie DeDe Dorsey did not play because of a sprained ankle suffered against Green Bay Monday so Wilson got the bulk of the work against the Colts

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have been coming to this message board for years now and reading all of your great posts so I thought I'd do my duty and make my first post.

I wonder if there are other die hard fin fans in new mexico. (everyone here is a cowboys or bronco's fan)

I see he was injured I wonder how bad it is... Really though I think Saban is looking for a veteran Rb... But I would still take a look at this kid if I were him.

I forgot about Weeks he is a solid kick returner also. He is not muc of a starter but a good backup

Cpufan I do agree from what ive read that saban is going to look for a vet to come in as the #2 back. here is a short list of how the the more seasoned vets that were cut fared in preseason. (even though preseason is only a glimpse of what some of these vets can do in primetime)

preseason stats of VETS Who were cut.
1)Artose Pinner (been in the league 3 years) 5.2YPC 1TD (two games)
2)Lee Suggs 3.25YPC 0 TD 1 fumble
3)N Davenport (been in the league 4 years) 2.7 YPC, 14 yards rec + 1 rec td
4)Ron Dayne 2.4 YPC 0 TD, 20 yards rec (only played 1 game VS arizona)
5)Moe WIlliams 2.2 YPC 0 TD, 12 rec yards (played in 3 preseason games)

nothing too exciting here, Artrose pinner whos been in the league but Ive never heard of had a good preseason numbers, Moe williams looked very pedestrian here against 3 different defenses. Lee suggs did ok but had the fumble. again it is only preseason but it seems to me that some of the better backs avail are rookies/unknowns. Maybe saban will take a risk and pick up a rookie with more upside as our second back over travis minor. who is in all reality an ok back but more of a special teams guy.

Here are Travis Minors preseason numbers as a comparison
12 att/44 yards @3.6ypc
all of 2005 Travis had 5att/17yards @3.4 avg

I wouldn't know who to pick when you look at those stats... wow are they ever bad lol.

Id take Pinner

F%#$ Davenport.. After those comments he made a few years back. i know it was probably bc Wanny and Rick were here but still

I saw Dorsey play for Cincy on the NFL network and he's definitely the "guy".
Reminds of Reggie Bush and Lawrence Moroney: fast, much stronger than his size would indicate, very springy in the legs; would be a great pickup. His situation reminds me of 2 years ago during pre-season: Willie Parker with the Steelers was outstanding, easily the best back they had, but without draft stature, he was stuck behind Bettis, Staley, & Haynes. Last year they turned him loose. This could be a similar situation for any team rhat picks Dorsey up.

Here is some info on Phinner:

Artose Pinner
Position: Running Back
College: Kentucky
Height: 5-10
Weight: 229
Hometown: Hopkinsville, Ky.

ANALYSIS
Positives: Big, physical back who is quick to the holes … Senses the crease well and takes advantage of his size to punish defensive backs when he breaks into the open field … Has a sharp acceleration off the snap and shows the leaping ability and instincts to go over the top … Has reliable hands, holding on to the ball securely running through traffic … Power runner with good straight-line speed … Patient waiting for blocks to develop … Will drive forward with force and shows good leg drive … Has the acceleration needed to cut around the corner … Shows good separation ability and cuts sharply in the short-area passing game … Has an aggressive blocking nature and is quick to pick up the blitz … Runs with good body lean and impressive short-burst balance … More comfortable moving the chains than going for the big play.

Negatives: Not that protective of the ball … Small hands have resulted in a high amount of fumbles throughout his career … Does not have the speed to burst out of his stance in an instant and also lacks the sustained speed to break tackles … More of a straight-ahead runner, lacking the juking moves and quickness to consistently turn the corner … While showing a willingness to face up to defenders, he lacks the overall strength to be effective as a blocker … Despite short-area quickness, he is hesitant to kick it into that extra gear needed to get to the second level … Must stay at a low pad level (tends to get upright, which prevents him from being effective at moving the pile).

Man that was an excellent first post. Very useful to the whole forum. Welcome!

Great post. Thanks for the info. I don't even recognize half the names. Looks like there are quite a few that will get the job done until Morris gets back and maybe after that.
