Pretty good article about the future of the team!

that is very interesting - thanks for sharing - they appear to be in a much better cap position than I thought. The trade Moore idea comes up again in there but it seems more glaring looking at that $5.5M cap hit. The Grimes re-signing is huge. Look at that $17M hit for Wallace next year - wow!

I really like Jon Asamoah and think he would be a great fit for the Phins....

It goes down after that (around the 10 million range)....the biggest bump next season....This year I think he makes only a few million...

Agree, but it is not going to happen, KC is not letting him go, however I can see Albert let go and we should grab him this time!!Monroe RT, Albert LT, new RG, with Incognito and Pouncey would be an amazing OL. No Clabo, Martin & Jerry!!!
Clady would be a dream but it is not going to happen.

Offensive tackle, offensive guard, linebacker, running back and safty need reinforcements after keeping our own. So that means 1 free agent tackle and guard and spending at least 2 of our first 3 picks in the draft on the same position. I believe running back should almost be given the same priority just not with a first round picks, linebacking go with free agency and safety a lower round draft pick. Only thing wrong with this instead of taking the best player avialable you end up drafting for need again which usually equates to lower quality

Those figures for Soliai, Grimes, and Clemons are all low. All three will cost much more than that to retain.
Soliai is looking for $7-8 million per year, Grimes will be closer to $10 million per year, and Clemons will be closer to $7 million per year.

It's a little premature to start talking definitively about 2014 because we could have a new GM and Head Coach by then.

There are a couple of issues i have with the article. 1)Wallace isn't going to say OK I'll take a huge pay cut. What he is going to say is go ahead and cut me I'll take my bonus money and sign with another team. 2) While 34 mil seems like a lot, you''ll be down to $27 mil after signing and cutting all our players that you wanted than look at all the holes on the team; back up QB, LT, RG, LG, RT, CB, DT. Depending on where we draft we'll need close to 10 mil for the rookies. If we grab Clady(at a least $10 mil per year) we will have pissed away just about the rest of our capspace. I don't think the picture is as rosy as the article paints it.

Who cares? Ireland doesn't know how to spend the money anyway...

First off, Wallace's money is guaranteed. We will pay him $17M next year regardless of what we do. IF we make the anticipated moves on Moore and Patterson, along with the expected salary cap increase due the he HUGE increase in TV revenue, we would be at around $50M as opposed to $34M.

Also, FA's sign for less than their average in the first year, as shown to an extreme with Wallace, etc. A $10M a year deal will likely cost half or less than that the first year, and the cap is expected to go up much more in 2015 than 2014.

IF Clemons is signed for anywhere near close to $7M a year, Ireland would have had to had drank at least two bottles of Irish whiskey, and adopted him. LOL
