I think Penny right now offers our best chance to win. Not only out of the QBs in our team, but also out of the QBs around the NFL that are available.

He's smart, works well under pressure, and will make our young offense better as they are able to learn from him.

That being said, he is missing one quality and it makes me become an even bigger fan that in the future (next season or the one after) that Henne will come through. The arm strength.

Now, I'm not looking at the arm strength in the practical sense of long bombs, fast bullets, and increased accurracy with distance.

What we miss with a QB like Penny is the momentum, confidence, and the demoralization to other teams when there's a big play. Man, when Favre threw that 50+ yard TD I felt like the wind had been sucked out of me, and I'm sure that every player (offense and defense) felt the same way. There's just something about having a maverick at the helm, having a superman, having a canon. It brings other things together.

Henne has a canon, hopefully over the next year or two he can get enough of Penny's brains to make him a controlled canon.

Anyone bashing Penny for his performance is CRAZY!!! He did an amazing job. His performance would have been decent with a good running game... yet he did it with our ground game completely stopped--very impressive.

I think Pennington played well...alot better than Lemon and Beck gave us last season! As for Henne, I agree with you...I believe he is our future and will do good as a starter...after he learns from Pennington some more

Pennington is exactly what we need right now: a game manager. i know a lot of fans had bizarre hopes and visions of playoffs this year, but we just need a good veteran to not lose games for us, and just keep the offense on the field. Pennington is the perfect QB for that, and he should make a fine transition towards whoever is next in line.

U Dont Need A Gun For A Arm 2 Play Qb But U Need A Arm And Pennington Doesnt Have 1 And Its A Embarresement 2 The Fins. Did U Guys See His Ducks In The Air. 95 % Of Highschools Qbs,wrs,rb,cb,ounters, kickers, oline, and Choaches Have Stronger Arms Than Pennington

i think penny was horrible starting out then settled down later in the game. His passes were high and off target through the first quarter. That being said the fourth quarter he was sick give the guy credit we havent seen a qb finish like that in a long time. THe last i can remember was prolly sage rosenfels in buffalo a few years ago.
I dont think pennys arm strength is the question i think he just needs more chemistry. That will only come with time. I completely expect penny to come out strong this week against arizona. If we can get the kinda production out of him that we got in the fourth quarter well win more than we lose.

Wow. That's almost good enough for unintelligible.

I don't think you need a rocket to be a good, or even a hall a fame QB.

My simple point is that I really hope Henne brings that quality because it brings positives that go beyond deep bombs, spreading the defense, and fast connections. It builds momentum, confidence, and nothing demoralizes the other team like a 50 yard pass TD.

I agree with the posters that say Penny is what we need right now. I think he will help build us this year and next (while bringing us close to, if not to a winning season) and I'm really wishing Henne takes a lot of Penny's positives and appends it to his rocket arm!

Pro Penny?

I don't know, Shaq was a major force to the Orlando Magic's Eastern conference title.

The only thing I am worried about is the whole NFL knows how to defend us after the Jets game.. Stack 8 or 9 in the box and put your corners 1-on-1 on our below average WR's.

Pennington is accurate within 20 yards, but I am afraid he will hurt our running game as other teams will stack the box and our runners will have nowhere to run to (like last Sunday)... With Pennington, you are playing with a much shorter field.. It feels like no matter where the offense is on the field it's like we are in the red zone. The entire 100 yard field is just one big red zone. Defenses will play A LOT tighter on us with Pennington as our QB. I think it will hurt our run game not having a QB who can sling it downfield.

Is his arm really as bad as everyone says.

Yes I remember him as a Jet and he would screw up. Like any other Finfan I loved to hate him. But I remember him having really nice throws too.

Let's say Ginn is wide-open down field, the defense completely blows coverage, is Pennington really incapable of delivering the ball 50 yards deep?

For those enamored with "ARM STRENGTH" or "CANNON ARMS" that is a good quality to possess, however give me ACCURACY and POISE anyday. Jeff George, Ryan Leaf, Andre Ware, TY DETMER, KLINGLER BROS. all had Cannon arms and how many of them actually had a meaningful NFL career??? Yes having the all-time great of DAN THE MAN spoiled us and in alot of ways blindsided us from doses of reality but JOE MONTANA didn't possess a cannon arm. Unfortunate to say but having ACCURACY AND POISE/MOXIE has him with 4 SB rings and it pains me to say this but DAN had only 1 friggin SB appearance in his career. I DON'T EVEN CARE TO MENTION THAT GAME PERIOD!!!!

i hear u ghost face but it really doesnt matter how accurate chad is with out arm strengh. for example if ginn is open 30 yards down the feild and chad throws a accurate pass 2 him it can easily get picked off because it takes so long for the pass 2 get there. so a perfect pass can get picked off from lack of arm strengh

Penny is our best option right now -- by FAR. IMO he will double our win total this season, over McCown/Beck/Henne starting this season.
We might win 6 or 7 with him this year; without him we win 3 or 4.

well people have said these things about Pennington his whole career. yet he's managed to start for several seasons, leading his team to the playoffs several times and racking up very good numbers. it's really an overblown aspect of his game.
