this thread is meant to discuss the problems this team has and explain how to correct them and give this team the best chance to win next season

problem areas:

offense playcalling
WR drops
missed FGs
old defense
running the ball

my solutions:

cut Mare draft Krosby
sign Lance Briggs to fill OLB void
make Chambers take pay cut, draft or sign new WR
Ricky Williams will be back, rushing the ball will be easier
let Mularkey open his play book, he is too limited to adjusting to our old offense
draft Brain Leonard, he is a better blocker and will open things up on offense. he can run, catch and block, Barnes doesn't allow for any FB runs or catches
draft for better depth to make defense younger and deeper
draft a mid-late round QB, we need another option just in case our current QBs don't work out

opinions?

i totally agree with trying to get Leonard. I'm in NJ and seen him play many times. excellent blocker/catcher/runner like you said. he will be a good player in the nfl

well as the dolphins finest fan i must say , i concurr .:305TillIDie:

a lot of players on this team this year won't be here next year...coaches encluded.

Barnes is barely used as it stands right now. He has lost most of his playing time to Peele because peele acts as an H-back. Leonard as a rookie would not be able to contribute in a large way becasue our FB is only used in the I and both linehan and mularkey clearly favor the 2 TE set. And as an H-back it would be hard for him to get on the feild by beating out vets and learning the offense.

Lance is a good option, but a better one would be adalius thomas. Cheaper and he better fits the role of a strongside pass rusher. Just like LB's from Pitt(steelers) always suck when they leave, LB's from cover-2 are not always interchangeable.

Chambers will not take a pay cut because he's done nothing wrong. When we play it close to the vest he will not be a factor, but when we gamble he will be. in the 4 games prior to Jax we played it safe and chambers was non-existent. then we open it up, and he has a big day, but we also lose...with how shaky QB is i would give chris a bye... ALSO the emergence of WES has limited chambers snaps from the slot...the same spot where he got a lot of his pro-bowl stats. He won't get to play there also until hagan can show he is dangerous from the outside spot.

Hopefully ricky gets cleared to play, we won't know however till just before the draft.

For this offense to properly work the QB must be confident and throw long balls just for the sake of throwing them. It opens up all the stuff underneathe. please remeber our line has a lot of injuries and will loo entirely different next year.

The defense is YOUNG and it is DEEP..on the D-line alone
Matt roth- has taken more than half of carters snaps away from him.
kevin Vickerson- Pushing Holliday for playing time.
fred Evans- Lots of upside and already showing it
Rodrique Wright- Top talent that fell because of injury
Manuel wright- A head case, but also a talented one
Channing crowder- Need i say more
Derrick pope- one of the hardest hitters on the team.
Jason Allen- Fianlly getting good playing time in the dime package.
Yeremiah bell- need i say more

This is actually a young defense with old starters. Most likely carter, holliday, and traylor will not be back, but it's OK because we have young guys behind them. All our LB's but zach are young and the entire secondary is under 30 years of age...it's not that old.

We have to many QB's as it is...most likey one will be cut so i doubt saban will waste a pick on a guy if we already have talent on the roster..

We have QBs, but we dont have talented QBs ;)

draft one. Sign a good OL/LB in the offseason then fill holes in the draft with the picks not used on our futue QB :)

Offense:
Fire Mularkey
Sign a Free Agent Veteran Center.
Move Hadnot to Left Guard.
Move Vernon Carey to Left Tackle.
Draft another Left Tackle
Cut Olindo Mare
Cut Travis Minor
Bring in a fullback to compete with Barnes.
Get a Tight-End who can block a Defensive End.
Re-evaluate Dante Culpepper
Promote Cleo Lemon
WR is probably good enough to skip a year.
****************
Defense:
Draft a Corner
Promote Jason Allen
Re-sign David Bowens and Vonnie Holliday
Sign a FA Linebacker; Also draft a Linebacker.
Cut Jeff Zgonina
Cut Kevin Carter
Cut Keith Traylor
Get a safety to compete with Travares Tillman

:yeahthat:

With our first 3 picks I'd like to see us draft:

Best OT available, Best OG available, and best LB available, or alternatively, best CB available.

I'd like to see LT, C, and CB, and us get Adalius Thomas in FA :D

Needs:

Center, guard, safety, cornerback, linebacker

Yeah right our WRs are good enough to skip the year. Hagan missed a key catch again last night and Chambers who had his best game of year is the biggest disapointment of the year.

Would love Leonard, but our #1 priority should be a LT

- sign 2-3 skilled FA O-Lineman.
- sign 2-3 skilled DBs.
- Draft 1 DB (2nd round)
- Sign a FA/Draft (1st round) 1 OLB.
- Figure out if Culpeper will ever be like he was with moss in Minn. (im not talking about his knee, im talking about his head).
