I have a question if Philbin does get fired. I know some people have mentioned Eric Mangini but isn't he the DC of the 49ers? Can we hire a HC that is currently with another team, does the HC not have to be employed or must we hire an intern HC and do that Rooney rule at the end of the season?

The candidate would not come in from the outside. If it is hired from within or interim, there is no Rooney Rule.

People are mentioning Mangini as a potential candidate for next year. This year is a wash, so whether the firing happens tomorrow or anytime during the season somebody will be promoted to interim HC.

Its so sad that we at one time had Dan Quinn on the roster and Todd Bowles guys who are now head coach's. Now if we promote from within the only name I heard was Darren Rizzi the freakin special teams coordinator. This franchise is so void of talent both in the coaching ranks and with the players these losers have assembled.

I wanted them to fire Philbin last year and make Dan Quinn the HC. Ross has turned this franchise into a massive joke.
