Moss had a 40 time of 4.25, the only one to ever have a lower time was Deion Sanders with 4.23. Plus he's 6'4" and has good hands and made circus catches. He told his quarterbacks that if they saw him running side-by-side with someone he was just playing with them and to lob the ball out as far as they could and he'd catch up to it.

When Moss first came to MN, the quarterbacks made bets on who would be the first to overthrow him, because it was nearly impossible. This is why he was always at least double covered at all times, since if they tried to run with him they'd get beat and if they ran ahead of him he'd just stop, turn around and catch the ball. With double coverage on Moss, a lot of times the other receivers would get open. Often they'd throw into double or triple coverage anyway and Moss would end up with the ball. I don't know why nobody has been able to duplicate this success.

Here is a Youtube video that sums up Culpepper's time with Randy Moss. First of all, Culpepper didn't even look around at any other receivers. Moss was his only target from the getgo, and all he did was throw it out as far as he could and let Moss catch up to it. When you throw the ball 40 yards ahead of your receiver, there is no aiming involved. Secondly, Moss was double covered. Lastly, he threw the ball 50 yards right off the snap and still underthrew Moss.:

Here's another Moss is double covered but just outruns them both:

another double covered Moss all Cully had to do is throw it so Moss could catch up to the ball but the other two couldn't:

here's one where Culpepper basically hands off to Moss and he runs past five guys for a TD showing how extremely fast he is:

here's basically the same thing only another team:

more than 40% of Pep's career TDs came from Moss. And it's not like only Culpepper could do it. Here's Frerotte doing it:

and here's Bouman doing it:

that's what you call a one-trick pony, these touchdowns that he had very little to do with inflated his reputation and his ego

Cunningham, George, Frerotte, and Bouman all had over a 94 passer rating when playing with Moss. Check the Bouman and Frerotte clips and you'll see why. Moss would change up his speeds so he got there just in time and if anybody else was there he'd outjump them and use his body to block them.

If you throw the ball far and high Moss will get under it, these videos are proof.

Can you do this with montana and Jerry Rice?
Nope, Moss had a 40 yard dash time of 4.23 and Rice's was 4.7 Rice would never be able to catch up to the ball, in fact the cornerback or safety would probably be more likely to get to it before he did.

sure moss was/is a freak, but pep did have a great pocket in every one of those videos. i think its all about the o line letting playmakers make plays.

Why is it so difficult for people to accept that Culpepper and Moss complimented each other?
Watch the Bouman and Frerotte clips, insert either one of them in Culpepper's place and you get the same result. In fact, Cunningham, George, Frerotte, and Bouman all had higher passer ratings in MN than Culpepper did. And what happened to their careers after Moss?

Exactly. This Daunte hater missed the most important part of the video, the protection.

Who cares? The dolphins don't have Moss so they will make it work with the players they do have.

You didn't answer the question.

On the flip side, what's the problem in Oakland??

You're not really talk about a qb rating for guys over 2 or 3 game span. Give me a break.

If you add Cunningham, George, Frerrote, and Bouman's attempts together it adds up to about half as many attempts Culpepper had in his entire career (which makes about 3 years worth of attempts), and their combined passer rating is higher than Culpepper's. Here is a site that breaks down how the Minnesota vikings were better off when Culpepper's backups were playing than when Culpepper himself was:

daunte had a great o line in minnesota. here, he has basicaly nothing. sure moss was great and they did compliment eachother. but dont dare try to say c pep was good just because of moss, thats foolish.
