Predator in the Water
Let's set the hype aside for a bit and place all the chips on the table...Here is what I think are the Pros and Cons of signing Manning:
Pro's:
Con's:
CONCLUSION: As you can see, IMO the pros outweigh the cons. Considering, you can say most of the pros hinge solely on his health. As much as I hate the fact that Peyton Manning would only be a temporary fix to the QB position, he is the best that is available to us right now. Ultimately, with a high risk, comes a high reward. At this time, I'm for signing Peyton Manning, albeit not overly thrilled.

Pro's:
- When healthy, he is an elite QB, easily in the top 3
- He makes all the players around him that much better
- He is willing to sign an incentive laden contract, which tells me he is not in it for the money, rather for the passion to keep playing
- He provides leadership
- He is the best QB available right now
- He makes our running game that much more dangerous
- He is really motivated to prove people wrong, including those of his former team
- He all but guarantees at least a 10 win season or makes us a playoff contender
- His signing may encourage other players to sign with us as well
- If healthy, he will be the best QB since Dan Marino
Con's:
- His health is the biggest question mark, can he make all the throws? can he take another big hit?
- Considering his age, he is on the decline
- He is a simple quick 3 year fix (if that)
- He is a retread QB, considering the history, retread QBs usually don't live up to the hype
- He will have to learn a new offense for the first time in his NFL career
