From Bama I planned to watch:
Terrence Cody (one of my favorite players)
Rashad Johnson (everyone here raves about him)
Julio Jones (not eligible but amazing talent as #1 WR)
Andre Smith (didn't play and the reason for UTAH's pass rushing success)

And honestly i didn't know any of the Utah players except Sakoda the K/P Specialist and Sean Smith

I learned alot about some of the Utah players and Bama guys.
Terrence Cody looked very lazy, like he ate 7 cheeseburgers before the game. He was occupied by only a center or a guard, and double teams weren't often needed. He doesnt play 2/3rds the game against a pass heavy team. He's a big guy, and I love his YouTube clips, but I'd rather have a BJ Raji, Ron Brace or some 6'3 230+ quicker NT type. Cody isn't very athletic.
Andre means alot to his team, and their OT depth is weak.
Rashad Johnson seems alright, he wasn't in the TV frame much of the game, maybe cuz the ball never came his way. They picked on #3 (Forgotten Name) all game long. (Do not draft this guy) Rashad hit guys pretty hard, low and at a good angle but dives more than wraps-up in tackles.
Julio Jones will be a top 15 pick in 2011

As for Utah I knew a little about Sean Smith, I read on some draft site he was a 4.4 40 guy that was 6'3 and sturdy. Wow i really want this kid in our secondary. He played man on Julio Jones all game and won the battle IMO. Julio wasn't much of a factor when normally he is they're best receiving option. Julio is 6'5 and can burn, he looks like TO on the field. With Moss, Evans and other tall AFC receivers in our schedule, we need a tall guy to man up. Jason Allen can't do it, he's not a bad player, but is clearly backup material and shouldn't have been drafted at #15 in '06. Sean Smith can be attained in the 3rd round, maybe even 4th but his stock just rose nationally. Sean also caused a sack and FF in 4th quarter on a DB blitz where he played a OLB position. Guy has alot of abilty, hits very hard, has great measureables and gets pumped on the field.

Sakoda, eh... not a great punter, great kicker tho..

Utah passing game - Athletic QB, smart decision maker, he's like a mixture of Seneca Wallace and Pennington. Spread the ball all over to a bunch of over acheiving WR's similar to the Dolphins WR Corp. Bryant Johnson, he won the MVP of game and deserved it, he did a great job today.

Stevenson Slyvestor - Kid ate up the LT all day. Andre Smith was suspended, Their starting LT got injured in 1st quarter and they moved their RT to LT and started some doofus at RT. Utah had 8 sacks, alot comming from the edge since BAMA hadn't game planned enough for their backup Tackles. We could get this guy maybe in the 6th something round... I've never heard of him so i dunno his projection, I'm just guessing.

So I'm leaning away from Cody, and salivating over Sean Smith. Rashad is welcome on the Phins too, as long as he isn't a reach when we pick him. I would not take him with our 2a (Skins) pick. I would with our 2b.

Cody pretty much laid an egg, and the last couple times I've seen Bama he hasn't looked good.

Though to be fair, everybody on Bama pretty much sucked. Even Rashad Johnson had an uncharacteristically poor game.

Honestly, aside from Sakoda (who is a junior) I don't know if there are any Utah players worth getting excited about come draft time. The only one in any positional rankings is Dorrell Mack as a RB, but he really didn't do anything. Though Sean Smith probably does deserve to be ranked

Brian Johnson (QB), Paul Kruger (DE), and Stevenson Slyvestor are probably worth late round fliers though

Paul Kruger and Stevenson Sylvester where everywhere, ALL day!

I was impressed with their motors.

We might need to wait a while to get a shot at making them Dolphins though....Kruger is apparently a Soph. and Sylvester is a Junior.

Worth keeping an eye on though.

Would have thought Nick Saban would have prepared a little better for the O-Line scenario...Wonder what happenned there??

What about Nic Harris SS Bama

nic harris is a SS for Oklahoma..
Rashad Johnson is the only mentionable player in the BAMA secondary, and he's a FS.

Do i really have to wait 4 months until we draft Sean Smith in the 4th round?

This is the second Bama game I've watched (LSU being the other) and I'm really unimpressed with Cody. I didn't see him do a thing to warrent a first round pick, he really needs to stay another year and develope alittle more. You'd think someone who you want to depend on in the NFL would be tearing up these college players that may never see the NFL.

I really am starting to believe we should wait until the 3rd round or later to pick up a NT.

I specifically watched several alabama games to see what all the fuss was about Cody. To be frank, I don't get it. He is slow off the ball. The guy that was playing next to him consistantly beat him off the ball. All the hype he is getting reminds me of the hype machine surrounding Ken Dorsy.

Cody is a big mold of talent . . . but expect Paul Soliai type progress . . . who honestly, I rather keep Soliai right now over drafting Cody in the first round. He isn't worth that pick. I don't think people have been noticing the progress Soliai has been making at NT, he has really taken well to coaching . . . tho the 2 suspensions are definitely concerning.

one of the reasons for his lack of quickness off the ball and overall lazyness is because of his injury. he gained a lot of weight and the injury itself has taken some quickness away. i tihnk he will be back next year, slimmer and much much more dominate as he should be.

Maybe he was distracted by a coaching vacancy.

Kruger (Soph) & Sylvester (Jr) should be back w/ the Utes next yr.

Utah's pass rush would have had some success against Bama probably not as much had Smith played. To say that, Smith being out is the only reason that the Utes had success is shortsighted.

Sean Smith has the measurables to be a NFL CB. It is the safeties (Joe Dale (Jr SS) & Robert Johnson (Jr FS)) that could play at the next level.

Brian Johnson should be a serviceable backup for a team that runs the West Coast offense.

Robert Conley (OG) who didn't have the best game might make an NFL roster and provide depth along the OL. WR's Bradon Godfrey & Brent Casteel could contribute w/ Casteel having the best shot.

The player for Bama I like best is McClain (LB).
