Reading the blogs on practice it looks like a trend. The coaching staff has settled on the QB ranking.

1 Pennington
2 Beck
3 Henne

It appears McCown is the odd guy out. They're using Beck to work with the receivers (along with Pennington and Henne) and appear to be including him more.

If this is the case, this is good for the Dolphins. We're rebuilding and keeping the right players to grow and develop. We can continue to groom Beck and Henne. We keep the best and trade the other in a few years.

I disagree with those calling for cutting or trading Beck. If you look around the league you don't trade for a good QB, you draft and develop them. We have to stop letting the young QBs go and see what they have - Eli Manning and Phillip Rivers are very good examples of that.

It will be Pennigton, henne and probably someone that is not even on the roster right now. The other two barely touched the football this week. Not a good sign for either one.

Beck isn't getting any reps. The coaches gave him his 1 quarter to prove himself, and since he didn't look spectacular, he's out.

I think there are very heavy politics going on right now, and politics are horrible for football teams. Politics ruins a true competition. Anyone who thinks it's open is crazy.

I'm not willing to write all off as "politics", they wouldn't of (1) Bought in McCown (2) Drafted a QB in the 2nd (3) Bought in Pennington, all because of politics. Maybe Beck just sucks?

The coach said he had seen enough of Beck and McCown so he is getting work in now for Henne and Pennington. After the past couple practices at this rate he has probably seen enought of Henne and Pennington as well (ok maybe not pennington because he just got here and has an excuse for now). I think we will see the cream of the crop rise to the top in the next few preseason games. Let the best men win.

Here is my theory, and it's just that. They are trying to decide if Henne is going to be a 2nd or third stringer. They are getting Pennington ready to start. They are still deciding between Beck and McCown for the 2nd or 3rd spot. Henne needs to play a hell of a lot better or he will be the 3rd stringer. My guess is Pennington, Beck, then Henne to start the season.

Right now, this makes the most sense to me too. I think Henne won extra work this week by showing some really solid foundations in the last game (some nice throws and poise in the pocket), but, unless someone makes a trade offer, Henne can lose his spot if he continues to practice and play like he did today.

Still, I think CP is the clear starter.

I think it's Pennington/Henne/Beck unless Pennington gets hurt the first few games of the season, in which case I think Beck steps in while Henne grasps the in-game speed from the sidelines.
