http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6788240 The Dolphins' likely starting quarterback in 2007 is still property of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The most high-profile QB on the roster is a long way from doing football activities.
Schein's Spot

Cleo Lemon knew he got along with Marty Schottenheimer, but it wasn't until Lemon was traded that he found out just how much the coach liked him.

So while the Dolphins and their fans wait for Trent Green to arrive (which should happen) and Daunte Culpepper to get healthy (which may never happen in Miami), Cleo Lemon and John Beck get the reps with the first team during mini-camp.

Don't book your Dolphins playoff tickets in advance.

But truthfully, Lemon is a very intriguing young player. He's a former Charger who was caught smack in the middle of the Marty Schottenheimer vs. AJ Smith feud. Marty loved his talent and upside and became rightly incensed when Smith dealt him to Miami in the A.J. Feely deal.

Actually, while it's true that Shotty liked Lemon, what fueled the AJ Smith feud was that Smith made the trade without consulting Marty first, not that he really had such a man-crush on Lemon.

That said, Lemon is pretty far away from being able to unseat a healthy Cpep or Green. He's a nice QB, but really nothing special. He does have a lot going for him right now. He knows the system and Cam knows him. The thing is, Cam also knows his limitations. That could work against him once Green is in the fold or Cpep is practicing...

I still would have Lemon as our #3 QB...behind Green, if we get him, and Beck. I would then release DC.

maybe not enough cameron knowing lemon still drafted beck

For some reason these things just don't get through to those on here that somehow have developed such a high opinion of Lemon.

Last year, instead of the team feeling confidence in Lemon and his potential starting abilities they felt the need to trade a 4th round pick for Joey Harrington. Harrington was avg. yet at no point till the throw away game at the end of the year did the staff feel he should replace Harrington.

This year, not only did we make QB a priority in the draft but we are also hot on the heels for Trent Green to be a starter. All the while this Lemon with all this potential is still right there on our roster. Clearly they think Lemon has a ton of potential

we know Roman, you say it in every post you can... it's a stupid move for many reasons but if you can't get it by now, nothing I can say will make any difference to you. I'm just real glad you aren't running the show.

Sounds like another player that has been in the league for a while and has all of this potential but never touches it. Chris Chambers anyone?

That about sums it up. A mop up performance and a matters not game does not convince me.

It is..

We will never gave Lemon a break, and i don't know why. He is not bad and he has only play like 7 quaters. Why haven we gave him an opportunity? , we better look for a guy that will be receiving SSI anytime now, or hoping that another, that should be in SSI, gets healthy.; Pathetic!! Anyway, i'm happy with what ever is qbacking us, as much as the O scores. GO DOLPHINS!!:ninja:

cleo could be the next donnovan mcnabb if we give him the chance . of i could be the next don shula too.:sidelol:

are you propsing if we get green to keep both?

thats quite a cap hit, what like 15 million...

one has to go

Not necessary, if Culpepper can handle the ego war and understand TG will serve as the professor for both Beck and him, then a considerable restructure (more incentive based) on his contract can allow us to keep him.
Also if you are making the sum by assuming Trend Green coming at his current 7.2 million for this season with a bonus signing, then you're very distant from the real amount.
Daunte may count something like 4 millions at most and Trend will restructure into something similar. Having that in mind even cutting should be considered more expensive for the team.
That said, we must point that DC is a West coast passer that may need most of this season to recover from his knee and adapt into a Coryell system.

My point exactly. If Cam liked Lemon, he would've just stayed with DC, Green, and Lemon at QB and used the precious #40 pick on say another OLineman. We wouldn't be still looking for another G like Kendall.

So this is evidence that MIA does not see Lemon in their future. My prediction for 2007: DC, Green, and Beck. Lemon will be traded or cut.
