QB for Miami 2026

Yes. Do this and start Ewers. Maybe take a qb late and have a completion
That would be my plan.

I would rather go 0-17 in 2026 if it means we can clean up our books and finally draft a real franchise QB and get this team moving in the right direction than to keep spinning our wheels in constant mediocrity.
Go 0-17? How dare you muddy up the Miami Dolphins legacy!!?? We are the only undefeated team in NFL history and you wanting to go a perfect season of losses? For a player!!?? I don't care if Broadway Joe Namath, or Chad Allen is available in the 1st rd., I would never wish for the Miami Dolphins to go a season without a win!!!! You might get banned for this blasphemous post! Members of FH, let's all pray and ward off these evil-doers of Dolphins fandom!!

McDaniel needs to win next year so Quinn Ewers has no ****ing chance, imo.

List of quarterbacks I think we’ll be interested in:

Malik Willis - too expensive for us.
Mac Jones - system fit, likely to be an option.
Anthony Richardson - big athletic mother****** with a big arm, not sure about the system fit.
Ty Simpson - I could see Miami talking themselves into thinking he’s the next Bo Nix. System fit and will be available at 11.

Apparently Ty Simpson declared for the draft.....which I think is a mistake for both him and the team that drafts him. Needs at least another year in school.
He's interesting, but not in the 1st. Maybe not in the 2nd either, but maybe the 3rd.

You like Richardson? for any team?

There’s a huge hole of day 2 QBs because many are returning for NIL and portal deals. It’s created a bathtub in ‘26 instead of the usual QB crop coming out “early” until the QB pool catches up as more max out their college eligibility imo.

Ole Miss’ Trinidad Chambliss applied for another year of eligibility. Doesn’t mean he’ll get it (FSU’s Thomas Castellanos was denied & entering draft) but he obviously is trying to go back.

ASU Sam Leavitt is evidently hitting the portal so doesn’t like he’ll be in the draft.

Cincinnati’s Brenden Sorsby is hitting the portal.

Combine that with USC’s Jayden Maiava and South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers whom both declared they were returning early.
Right. I'd draft Green or Robertson. I think both might go 3rd round range. After the combine, Green might be a 2nd rounder. Allar might be worth a gamble as a mid rounder.

Beck could be a nice backup option to Ewers for 2026.

I'd like Willis as a free agent, but he probably ends up with $25 million per year.

It doesn’t matter how big an arm or how athletic Richardson is, he’s one of the most highly inaccurate quarterbacks to make it to the pros. There’s so many moving parts that fixing the flaws in his game is an uphill challenge (if not a near impossible one). I’d stay way clear.

Some have speculated that Malik Willis will get around $20 million per season, so similar money to Fields got from the Jets. Would he take a similar deal to Daniel Jones ($14m) from a team where he’d start?

Would Jake Browning be worth taking a risk on? His numbers this year haven’t helped his case to start somewhere. A team could bring him in to compete if they liked what they saw in 2023.

Mitchell Trubisky might garner some interest based off his week 18 games. He’s still only 31 and does offer experience, so could easily be a bridge QB for a team and he shouldn’t cost too much.

I suppose the only other names would be the likes of Mariota and Garoppolo on short term, team friendly deals. Both have sufficient experience and ability to start, and like Trubisky, shouldn’t cost too much.

Ty Simpson is nowhere near my list. I would rather roll with Ewers all year if that was the option.
Agreed. I don’t see how Simpson’s body of work and physical attributes make him a better prospect than Ewers was.

We are in cap hell, but only for this year. No band-aid we apply is going to make us contenders so we might as well just roll with what we have and start over in 27 with a ton of cap space.

Ewers starts and hopefully shows enough that he can be a quality backup in 27 and beyond once whoever we draft at QB that year is ready to go. Bring in a cheap veteran to be QB2 and Tua is our emergency QB3 only to be played in the direst of emergencies.

In 27 we'll have a high draft pick going into a strong QB class draft and we'll be free of Tua, Chubb, Hill and possibly Waddle.

It will be yet another rebuild, but what other choice do we have?

Ole Miss’ Trinidad Chambliss’ application for a 6th year of eligibility was denied so he’ll enter the draft and take a pay cut. 😆
